Rhett Wiseman singles and steals 2nd with 2 down. Ro Coleman pinch hitting.

EDIT - The Eddie Gaedel strategy pays off as the 5'5" Coleman draws the walk. Karl Ellison due up.

EDIT - Oh my. The kid is hitless in 9 CWS at-bats, and Curtiss plunks him with the first pitch. Bases loaded. Tyler Campbell coming up.

EDIT - HOLY SHIT! An infield hit! He beats Hinojosa's throw, and Vandy walks off to the CWS finals! Just his 5th hit of the entire season!

What. A. Game.

As a fan with no dog in the fight, I'm beyond stoked for this finals matchup knowing either Vandy or UVA is going to win its first-ever NCAA Baseball Championship.

Hard as it is to believe, UVA nearly killed their baseball program in the early '00s.

UVA's Brandon Cogswell with a first-pitch line drive hammered to straightaway center for a base hit off Walker Buehler to lead off the b-1st.

EDIT - A 2-out double to left by Joe McCarthy is followed by a Derek Fisher 2-run single to right-center. Hoos lead, 2-0.

A leadoff double by John LaPrise goes by the wayside in the UVA b-2nd as Buehler gets Cogswell swinging to end the frame.

Kirby really giving it to vandy on a platter

Yup. After some sick curves in the first two innings, his command blows.

Commodores on the board with a bases-loaded infield single, and they're still juiced with 1 out.

EDIT - And now another walk. Third of the inning, and we're tied 2-2.

This is a total meltdown by Kirby. Vandy has done very little to earn it this inning

Campbell's double was smoked, so there's that.

But yeah, no argument on your larger point.

A 4-pitch walk makes it 3-2 Vandy. Yikes.

He's missing the target by at least 18 inches on every pitch.

And there's one missing by 4 feet. Wow. Get him the eff outta there.

I'm struggling to remember the last time I saw three straight bases-loaded walks. Pretty sure I've never seen four in a row..

Wow. Finally, contact, grounder to 1st, and Papi blows it. No play, E-3, another run for Vandy.

5-2 Commodores.

They weren't getting him - that Wiseman kid can fly (Mansfield, MA and BB&N, as it happens).

Kirby's total implosion likely just cost my alma mater a national championship. How does the ace of a great staff choke that badly. Wow

Deep foul-out along the right field seats by Harvey, and Zander Wiel is just safe at home. 6-2 Vandy.

And now Cavs reliever Whit Mayberry hits Delay, and Campbell's up again with the bases loaded & 2 out.

Are you shitting me? Campbell's 2nd double of the inning clears the bases. 9-2, Vandy.
Was a lucky hit but it was another awful pitch. UVA pitching staff picked a bad time to be really, really terrible

You went to UVa and spectacular sporting failure surprises you? Is the pep band still around to get suspended after the game?

Think they got rid of those jagoffs. Sporting failure is no surprise though...doesn't mean I'm not pissed at this pitiful showing

Of course, it's maddening...each and every time. I turned on the game just in time for that inning. Every time you get some hope that something good will happen.....

Not sure how Norwood missed that ball. It was sinking fast and he had to dive, but he appeared to have it all the way. Right off the thumb.

Cavs Comeback??

A run in on a McCarthy HBP, single by Fisher, the single by Towns on the ball that Norwood missed, and now a single to LF by LaPrise. Brandon Downes up.

EDIT - Base hit to LF plates a pair. 9-5, Vandy.

Buehler's all over the place. Wild pitch moves up the runners. Full count to Irving, and that foul ball was pitch #70.

EDIT - HUGE out on the 5-3 grounder. New ball game, though.

I'm happy if we can make them use some arms. Hard park to score in.

Ump made an AWFUL call that at bay that was huge. Made it 2-2 instead of 3-1

No team has ever scored 5 or more runs at TDAP and lost, so tonight will be a first.

About the third inning...Sorry i was behind...
Kirby shit the bed. Papi gets the blame for not making that out but Kirby didn't cover first. Not sure he makes the out at second. O'Connor didn't have arms warming fast enough. That's on him. Otherwise go Hoos let's come back and right the ship.
