I've gotten so used to winning that I dread the inevitable losing streak that will eventually come.Wagon intact. I like that the Bruins made it through the LTIR maze and now face LTIR pros Tampa.
Win please because it’s more fun than losing.
hockey players are just a different breed. My eyes would still be watering from all the pain.doesn't even miss a shift
A soccer player would be given the last rites.hockey players are just a different breed. My eyes would still be watering from all the pain.
I had a Dman that in the start of the first took a puck to the face, split his top lip in 2. He went to the hospital, got stitches, came back, and just got dressed as the final horn sounded. He was pissed he didn't make it back on time. Not an important game at all either. I have stayed in net through a torn groin and cracked ribs and I couldn't tell you whyhockey players are just a different breed. My eyes would still be watering from all the pain.
Don't say that in the soccer thread! The last few minutes of a 1-0 first round World Cup game against some shit Iranian team is more exciting than OT playoff hockey - lolololololol!A soccer player would be given the last rites.
Last year I shattered a knuckle getting hit by a shot, tried to take my next shift (and came off when I couldn’t hold my stick), then went to the bar after. Then went home and went to bed.I had a Dman that in the start of the first took a puck to the face, split his top lip in 2. I love these stories, and we all have at least one after long enough. They're also all usually similar in ending by just pretending it never happened and NEVER skipping post game beersLast year I shattered a knuckle getting hit by a shot, tried to take my next shift (and came off when I couldn’t hold my stick), then went to the bar after. I now have no right ring finger knuckle.
For what it’s worth I’ve taken shots that hurt horribly like this at first then ended up being fine so I assumed this was similar. Only this time it wasn’t.I love these stories, and we all have at least one after long enough. Are we talking overtime of game 1 of a first round series? If so, then yes, today's US-Iran game was more intense.Don't say that in the soccer thread! The last few minutes of a 1-0 first round World Cup game against some shit Iranian team is more exciting than OT playoff hockey - lolololololol!
To each their own. Iran had one shot on goal -- for the game. Are we talking overtime of game 1 of a first round series? If so, then yes, today's US-Iran game was more intense.
Thought the same thing.Okay... soo that's not holding... let's see that continue for the rest of the game
I've seen the Bruins lose games where they had twice as many shots. It happens. To each their own. Iran had one shot on goal -- for the game.
Yes, it's just my opinion and I understand that others feel differently. As I said, to each their own. I like WC and Olympic soccer (mostly because of the magnitude of the events, I think), but in my opinion nothing's more exciting than OT playoff hockey -- nothing's even close. The name of both games is to outscore the opponent and you can't score if you don't shoot on net.I've seen the Bruins lose games where they had twice as many shots. It happens.
Iran also had a couple that went barely wide, that as they were happening looked as if they were going in. A last second bad bounce or soft penalty call could have swung the game. It was also in a tournament that you only get one chance every 4 years in, and in our case it had been 8 years. It was an intense watch.
I've played both sports. I've been hurt pretty badly and stayed in the game in both sports. If you have a rooting interest in any game, it can be extremely intense. If you don't like soccer, it's fine, but those of us that like both can live or die with each of them.
