The fact that JB got paid should mean he no longer has to prove he can do shit he can’t do.

Instead we have him tanking multiple possessions per game carrying the ball up as the 4th best ballhandler on the floor. Dumb.

JB's back out there but I really wish Joe would sit him for such a boneheaded, unforced error.

edit before people freak out I would have had the same thought if that was JT or anyone else on the team doing that

Not really encouraging the way Poeltl is scoring on Porzingis at will. Kristaps should be able to put up more resistance than that.

jaylen making the same mental mistake dribbling through a crowd for the millionth time
I know this is a gamethread, and I don’t mean to single you out, but it’s absurd comments like this that just drive me nuts. Jaylen handles the ball a lot which is going to result in more turnovers than someone who is more of a catch and shoot guy. But there’s still no way that he’s dribbled into traffic and turned it over more than 750,000 times, let alone a million.

The thing is he doesn't need to have the ball that much on this team. I look at it as GIannis shooting the three. Sure he can hit one but we'd take him shooting the 3 all night long because it's not his strength.

Are you sure? A million feels like a conservative estimate

I understand the shorter preseason and the roster changeover, but it would be nice if this team ran some plays more often and move the ball. Too much dribbling into traffic and letting teams exploit their poor handles. Pritchard and White are the only two I don't worry about losing the ball.

Just turned this game on and first thought I had is “where does Mike Gorman get the balls to retire on us?”

How can we threaten him to keep him working?

If Joe hadn't called a timeout then, I was ready to put my fist through the screen.

He's still so good even if sometimes he's not perfect. However, I just would rather him go out now instead of holding on too long like Jack is right now

I feel like they are feeding into the on/off narrative on purpose.

Or they are just lost without the best player on the floor.

Tatum plays when it counts. The Jaylen-show offense (and defense) are a disaster though.
But when it counts good teams have a defender Tatum can’t shake or they just double him early. We have seen all of this before. You can’t just stand with 5 guys watching the ball all the time with an occasional on ball screen

You are correct but don’t you think they have enough talent that they should not fall to pieces when Tatum sits?

It drives me crazy when no one is moving without the ball. It's high school basketball stuff. Teammate is in trouble dribbling, get open, cut to the hoop.

I think it's true they're not running a lot of stuff cuz lots of new guys to integrate but also it's easy to overstate how much any team runs actual actions th se days. it's mostly improv off pick n roll

Tatum’s gravity helps everyone else. The offense with Tatum isn’t just elite because Tatum scores infinite points (he doesn’t) but because everyone gets good looks consistently.
