Utd 3-1 Everton tonight but this was a very good Toffee performance I thought. 532, kept compact, same as draw with City. Frank tried to play 433 with possession against Brighton and they shredded us: Tarkowski and Coady are good but can’t play a high line with only one DM in front of them. Brighton attackers cut through like tissue paper. This tight block sprang good counters. Score line flatters Utd. Coady scored for both sides. Everton had a very pretty fastbreak DCL-Gray-DCL waved off at 75’ for being a toenail offside in the buildup. Third MU goal was a very soft pen at 97’. Either or both could easily not have been called as they were. Utd still the better side as you’d expect at home -Rashford is at superhuman levels of form- but Everton had 40% of the ball. Still not enough precision on attack but they played good football with vigor. Clearly have not quit on Frank. Just wonder if they’ve taken on too much water already.

The Palace - Southampton game has been reasonably entertaining. Southampton took a 2:1 lead with the Palace keeper lollygagging with the ball at his feet outside his box and Armstrong nicks it and strokes it into an empty net. I always find these types of goals entertaining.

Guaita has had a horrorshow of a game.

His misplaying of the 2nd goal literally reminded me of when I did the exam same thing in a rec game years ago, and at that time as the most casual of players you could imagine I remember thinking man, that was pretty sloppy.

The Bournemouth v Burnely match has been a lot of fun. Burnley looked to be cruising at 1-3, but Bournemouth just pulled one back...a little friction ensued, which we like. I've been watching most of Burnley's league matches and Kompany has done a wonder, turned the squad around. They are younger, quicker, they play a nice passing game but they ain't afraid of a challenge. It won't be a shock if they win this one.

2-4 Now. Manuel Benson gets his second of the day. This kid's been great for Burnley all season.

IIRC, the talk around Burnley last year was that if they got relegated, it would be a complete disaster for them given their financial situation and they could be headed for a dramatic tumble down the pyramid. As it sits currently, they are 14 points clear of third place in the Championship and look right on schedule to be back up in the Prem next season.

Kompany has them playing totally different football. They’re not easy to catch on TV but it’s a great story. Teams that do this often struggle in Prem if they make it back up but it’s great to see teams who play be rewarded

He’s been really solid this season as well. There’s talk of an extension at a cut price and most fans, including me, would be for it. Especially based on this season.
I still think he’s a net positive with making the saves he shouldn’t.

Watching Shffield Wednesday play Newcastle at Hillsborough, been a good half, no goals but Sheffield Wed have held their own, could have scored themselves. Newcastle have to look at the FA CUp as a legit trophy target this season. I'd love to see Wednesday score and then try and park the bus. I feel they need to score first to have a shot at an upset.

Edit: Bout time Wednesday were back in the prem. Been too long.

That was intense. Wednesday just couldn't clear their lines for what felt like forever, loads of corners and crosses and recycled balls by Newcastle, but no equalizer for their efforts.

Six minutes of injury time. It'll feel like forever for young Justin.

Every time I watch a non-NBC broadcast I’m reminded how refined Rebecca and team are. These ESPN pundits are caricatures of negative and grumpy old men.

Alisson still the model of somehow managing to stay on his feet when collecting the ball with a lead.

Queue LiVARpool jokes.

This is why there needs to be more transparency in the process. It looks like the corner taker was off when he came back for the second ball, but nothing showed it.
