Simmons’ next contract is going to be fascinating, coming off his age 28 season where he will be paid $40 MILLION.

Quite the sadist you are, thinking that a guy like Ben Simmons who doesn't really want to play basketball, is frankly scared by a lot of what it involves, and who will have made >$200M in his career after his contracts ends, will sign up for more pain and humiliation and terror, for far less money.

Simmons is going to be an all-time "you had to be there" guy when all is said and done. ROTY, multi-all star, all-defense, likely to have a pretty impressive career stat line at least the averages, but if you weren't around for the drama you wouldn't get nearly the full effect.

Actually, that might be an interesting list to put together, on both the positive and negative side. Rajon Rondo, for example, is someone I would put on the positive side of a You Had to Be There All-Star team.

I'll bet JB had more potential assists than Simmons had potential points.
