We all know it rightfully belongs to CR67MLB is giving the win to Slaten.
Weissert I think, but I love the idea of watered down Booser.Water winner! Did Booser get the win?
Nope. But in postgame Cora said Yoshida is fine.Missed this part of the game; was there any explanation given why McGuire was the pinch-hitter instead of Yoshida?
Thanks. I mean, it turned out great; just seemed weirdNope. But in postgame Cora said Yoshida is fine.
McGuire's swung a pretty good bat and I'm guessing Cora may have wanted to hold onto Yoshida in case an outfielder went down. Pickin's for defensive replacement are getting pretty slim. That said, it does run contrary to the idea of not using your back up catcher for the same reason.Missed this part of the game; was there any explanation given why McGuire was the pinch-hitter instead of Yoshida?
I’m in Paris so I’m replying to your snark at a weird time! Way to skip right over the “not to blame anyone.” It’s just crazy to me how fast the injuries piled up and what they’re forced to run out there. But cool, go with the least generous reading of what I saidImagine them, wanting to try to win instead of forfeiting.
Ah - you probably haven't seen a team field an injury-backup lineup before. Now I understand your surprise at what one looks like.I’m in Paris so I’m replying to your snark at a weird time! Hah, I meant I was visiting. Your tone is baffling either way, though I shouldn’t be surprised.Ah - you probably haven't seen a team field an injury-backup lineup before. Now I understand your surprise at what one looks like.
Have you watched the games so far this year? (Honest question - some people don't.) It's been rather like a slow train wreck over the last 2.5 weeks. Longer if you consider just Devers who missed the second game of the season.Hah, I meant I was visiting. Your tone is baffling either way, though I shouldn’t be surprised.
Fair enough, and I had a feeling that I was not clear enough / misinterpreting your tone etc. I don’t watch them all, but check all the box scores etc. But yeah, a shock is too strong. It’s more the vibe of disbelieving that things got so bad injury-wise over the last few weeks. Even having seen these things start to pile up I can’t help but feel surprised, I guess!Have you watched the games so far this year? (Honest question - some people don't.) So, even if you're only an every-other-game watcher, it's a little hard to take someone seriously who is acting like yesterday's lineup is an out-of-the-blue shock.
That makes sense to me.Fair enough, and I had a feeling that I was not clear enough / misinterpreting your tone etc. I don’t watch them all, but check all the box scores etc. But yeah, a shock is too strong. McGuire was still DH, so was still available to catch if Wong got winged.McGuire's swung a pretty good bat and I'm guessing Cora may have wanted to hold onto Yoshida in case an outfielder went down. Just to add to this if I may. The use and Andersen's response thus far has really benefited the staff. This is the second time now that Anderson has come in and tossed multiple innings to finish out the game on the day before an off day. It's huge when you can gift the majority of the pen with at least 2 days off.Cora has used him virtually perfectly, and it's been and will probably continue to be a very important role for this team. His stuff has looked better than I expected, too, and I thought he'd be decent....
Oh for sure, but with a short bench you're then losing your DH and limiting PH for pitcher options. Admittedly that may be looking more forward than necessary. I only mentioned it because the possibility of losing the DH was discussed in game.McGuire was still DH, so was still available to catch if Wong got winged.
