Well this sure looks like a nightmare for the association. Apparently for the hurt eyeball game the under on his minutes played was the biggest winner of any player prop that day.
If this was a one-off that would be one thing….but in the other abnormally bet prop game he pulled himself 2:43 in due to “illness.” This wasn’t a one-off.I hope that teaches everyone to play through a hurt eyeball next time, lest you be investigated and your reputation ruined.
Yeah, the eye thing was in January, but the "illness" was just a few days ago. Seems like if he had stuck to just pulling this once, he might have gotten away with it.If this was a one-off that would be one thing….but in the other abnormally bet prop game he pulled himself 2:43 in due to “illness.” This wasn’t a one-off.
He also reportedly sold his jersey number to Bruce Brown for $10k only days before the first prop game. Yikes.Yeah, the eye thing was in January, but the "illness" was just a few days ago. Seems like if he had stuck to just pulling this once, he might have gotten away with it.
The night he pulled himself for “illness” his Unders were also the bigger prop liability for DK and they had multiple people trying to make $20k bets on his Unders.Well this sure looks like a nightmare for the association. I smell debt to a bookie! He also reportedly sold his jersey number to Bruce Brown for $10k only days before the first prop game. Yikes.
Or just being broke. He isn’t making that much money on a two-way to keep up with the NBA lifestyle that surrounds him. Whatever the case this is looking worse and worse for him with every new report.I smell debt to a bookie!
This is nuts. I’m not a gambler, and that’s just to say I never gave much thought to how easy it is for a player to influence a bet that only depends on whether (s)he is on the court. I don’t get how that’s allowed to be a thing.Yeah, the eye thing was in January, but the "illness" was just a few days ago. There are different types of wagering. You can wager on the teams or the total points scored in a contest. Then you have the “individual prop” market which have much smaller limits on how much a bettor can wager. Say the limit is $20k you can wager on a team at this particular outlet…the limits on a player prop can be around $1k or even less depending on the sport (higher in a larger handle sport such as NFL, much smaller on say a tennis match). This is nuts. For the people here more in tune with this - how much would the gamblers of the world care if we just said “no more betting on shit one player can rig?”
Oh wow, so this wasn’t even a smart dumb scheme? In other words, to pay off they would have had to have been allowed to make higher bets than actually permitted? And they didn’t do that research? So this ain’t Inception level planning. There are different types of wagering. You can wager on the teams or the total points scored in a contest. This was what raised a red flag in that multiple accounts were flagged for attempting to wager $10-20k all on the same player props involving Porter. These type of wagers would NEVER, and I’ll confidently say never, occur on an obscure bench player on TWO occasions where the player willingly removed himself from the game both times minutes after entering.
To be clear, it is very possible that a betting group would have injury information, although this would mostly be for NFL, to suggest a player would see a limited number of snaps and attack these Under markets. The NBA rarely works like this and especially with a player such as Porter. Like literally there are 4-5 boxes that are being checked off here togethe when only one singular box could realistically be considered a one-off.
I don't disagree, but it's kind of obvious why. Ohtani is the biggest baseball star in the world, and Porter is completely unknown to 99% of NBA fans. The Dodgers are solid favorites to win the WS, the Raptors are finishing up a forgetful season in 12th place in the east. This situation seems to be far worse, but the parties involved are infinitely less important, hence the lack of attention. This is weird. I feel like the Ohtani coverage is completely oversaturated compared to this scandal. The irregular betting patterns occurring two times on an imperceptible injury (illness, aggravated eye) are pretty much a smoking gun. This directly compromises the integrity of games. After Porter removed himself, the Raptors only had one healthy center.
Yikes. He should have called his brother.Or just being broke. He isn’t making that much money on a two-way to keep up with the NBA lifestyle that surrounds him. Whatever the case this is looking worse and worse for him with every new report.
No definitely not by expierienced beards (runners for sharp bettors) which adds another flag.Oh wow, so this wasn’t even a smart dumb scheme? And good to know there are some safeguards in place.
Ignorance is bliss. Aren’t they cute when they are young?
I mean, dude couldn’t pay $50 to break one of the bigger NBA stories of the year? lol
if you don't like that you don't like NBA basketballDame gets so bailed out. Gross game no matter which disgusting team wins.
I loved the OT blocks on him…twice!!if you don't like that you don't like NBA basketball
Giannis completely disappeared in the OTs. I think the Bucks ran one pick n' roll with Giannis and Lillard in OT... and Giannis has either been stuffed by Davis, fouled and missed FTs or tried a fallaway that was short. Not sure what the Lakers were doing on D against him..maybe just having Davis being able to guard him...but they seemed to frustrate him quite a bit tonite.Khris Middleton has taken four contested shots in the final two minutes here and missed them all. Giannis hasn't even touched the ball.
Let’s start that discussion! What kind of championship contender blows a 19 point fourth quarter lead against a team sitting its best player?
at home no lessWhat kind of championship contender blows a 19 point fourth quarter lead against a team sitting its best player?
learned that one in therapy
I give him the toe on the line didn’t deserve it asterisk everyone gives the Celtics for Jimmy missing the 3 in ‘22.lakers do it. bucks are chokers, Gianni's will never win a championship.
I know that injuries happen to everyone, but the Nets were just such a superior team before Kyrie AND Harden got hurt. That series was headed for a sweep, or at least a gentleman's sweep, without much chance for the Bucks to do anything about it.I give him the toe on the line didn’t deserve it asterisk everyone gives the Celtics for Jimmy missing the 3 in ‘22.
