1.5 months into the new year and no thread?

I signed up for a February 4 Pack of lessons at the X-Golf locally. It was the first time I have ever had a teacher/pro tell me "Swing as hard as you can" .Some good results came out of that first lesson, lets see if I remember anything next week.

I kind of had to do that in my simulator league the other night. Had gotten all in my head trying to hit certain positions and was just swinging so slowly and tensely and was kind of a mess on the whole.

First non qualifying 9 holes last week. 48 over nine, irons ok, driver all over the place. Been working out hard this winter, so im positive going into the better weather. It has been horrendous here, wind, snow, water. Course is still closed this weekend.

Did a local 18 hole match, 116 with a lot of wind. First nine lost about 6 balls, second nine lots of shanks.

Last friday another nine, 48 again but an eight on the last hole. Much better.

Played a nine hole scramble today at my local executive 9, Charlie Yates: -6 finish. I played out of my mind. Made three 20+ foot putts, hit almost every par 3 green and drove a 260 yard par 4. I should never play again.

Did fittings at both PXG and Club Champion this week.
Irons were a tough call between the PXG Gen6 and the Srixon zx5, but ended up going with the Srixon. The Ping g430 LST driver was a clear winner for me- actually pretty unbelievable how much it fixed the nearly unplayable shot I was hitting with everything else. Overall both we’re good experiences- I knew I wanted new irons for sure either way, but now couldn’t imagine just buying something off the rack. With promos, PXG was only $25 for the fitting (applied to any purchase) and $100 for a 3.5 hour full bag at Club Champion.

Titleist is running their buy 3 get a 4th dozen free promotion. Comes out to $44 per dozen.
Thanks for the reminder. What’s also cool is you can customize your numbers if you have a particular preference. Going with 99 this year. 9 was my dads favorite number (because of Teddy Ballgame).

Sent my clubs off for new shafts after a fitting at Club Champ. 10g lighter than the old ones. Getting old!

Got 18 in at Shaker Hills in Harvard on both Saturday and Sunday. Short game was brutal, conditions weren't the best, but it's March, but honestly felt pretty good about how I was striking the ball for this time of year.

Shaker was in pretty good shape for this time of year, and more importantly, they have carts, although cart path only.

I was 2 groups behind you on Saturday. Thought it was you, saw the Andover bag, but wasn't positive and you went up to the tee and teed off so didn't have a chance to say hi.

I was shocked at how good the conditions of the greens were. They were in good condition for May, let alone March. Big miss having the bar closed though.

Last week, me and 4 other guys won our Topgolf winter league (50 teams total). A lot of fun and a good way to spend some Monday nights since January to keep swinging. We get free entry into a future league and a little bit of swag.

I was scoring amongst the highest at the place although no means the best golfer in real life. But the key for the game is to have a consistent "miss" and adjust your aim accordingly.

Which one? We had a team in the RI Top Golf. I think we were 9th going into the playoffs but lost in the first round.

Yup, the RI location. We were 4th ranked during the regular season, but between 1st week upsets then semifinals I believe we were playing a lower ranked team in the final.

Getting back into the game after nearly a 10 year break. Dropped from Stiff to Regular flex clubs for my irons and holy crap it is making a huge difference. I lost about 10 yards on my shots but things are much straighter and much more repeatable swing wise. Turns out I was likely overswinging tremendously so slowing my swing down a bit (as a mid 40 year old this was coming anyways) has made my game much more constistent.

Damn, would have been good to catch up. I drank their last 4 Guiness on Saturday from the fridge in the pro shop, so they didn't have any for St. Paddy's on Sunday. Lol

First outdoor round of the season today at Wachusett with my 5 year old son. Was much chillier than expected and the course was set up really tough! Somehow with zero warmup i hit the purest 7 iron of my life (after a bigtime wipey fade off the tee) that lipped out from about 170 to open the season with a kick in bird. Bogeyed the last 2 to open with a pedestrian 80 but the ball striking and putting should improve so there is hope. Last 2-3 holes out there were brutal, probably about 45 degrees with a freezing wind in our face - I hit hybrid into 18 which is usually a 5-6 iron for me and still came up short.
