    They bowed to public pressure instead of going into full sell mode to get under the tax before and at the deadline. Not the end of the world but pretty egregious if your player valuation was so divergent from the market.

    This is pretty far out there, but could they consider Pedroia moving to 3B and using Betts at 2B. Third would seem to put a little less wear and tear on him then he takes at 2B as he is getting older.

    Middlebrooks strikes me as rather comparable to Pedro Feliz, which isn't great but there is a role for that guy in the MLB. The real question is how much improvement can he make at the MLB level, I think you need to run him out there for a full season and see if he can improve, if for nothing...
