He would be an enormous upgrade for the Vikes or Dolphins if he's healthy. I don't think the Colts get a first, but if the injury was just an excuse to get out of Colts camp, I think there's 2-4 teams for whom he's worth a 2nd and change maybe.
Yeah, not a whole lot of landing spots. This is a move for a team that has a legit chance at a SB so that likely takes away rebuilding teams like TB, New Orleans, Arizona, etc. Would the Bears be interested? He makes a lot of sense for them as a running team but doubt they'd give up a potential high first for him. I could see a team like the Vikings, Dolphins, or Bills caving and giving up a first. But, most likely, I'd bet on a 2nd and maybe a later pick. The RB values are just so depressed.
I wouldn't count out the Bengals. Mixon is in the last year of his deal and he's been running out of steam as a workhorse back. Pretty sure they're still sitting on some cap space too.
They're not parting with picks and the cap space needs to be saved for extensions, including a particularly notable one. They could certainly use an upgrade, but they committed to Mixon when they agreed to a lower cap number and have young guys behind him fighting for time. I'd say the chances are between slim and none and I'm pretty sure slim just left the building.
It would be very much against the grain for how they operate but GB makes a ton of sense. They have extra draft capital from the Rodgers trade and enough cap space to fit Taylor in who starred at University of WI. They could send AJ Dillon and a 2nd to IND.

There is no suggestion in the initial reports that the Raiders agreed not to tag him again. So, he got almost a couple million more out of his holdout. Tough times for RB.

RBs are in a tough spot. Jacobs can't take the year off, can't sit at home and not make the 11-12 million. But he also isn't getting a 4 year, 60 million dollar deal, either. If he plays well, he will get franchised again.
At this point, my view is that no team should be able to franchise a player two years in a row. The franchise tag is punishing RBs.
100%. They just have to take the best deal they can get and hope they don’t get hurt. But even if they don’t, the physical toll and ease of replacement kills them.
I really wish the franchise tag could only be used once. I guess it doesn’t impact enough guys to get the NFLPA to fight harder for that.
The tag is the average of the top 5 salaries. If you get tagged a 2nd time, you get a 20% raise guaranteed, or the average of the top 5 contracts, whichever is higher.
If you're tagged 3 years in a row, you get the average of the top 5 of the highest paid position.(which will always be QB) So there is a 0% chance that would ever happen for a RB.
It seems odd to me to not at least activate him off PUP. One would think the trade value of him being available before week 5 is of greater benefit to the team than whoever will be the 53rd player onto the roster now.
Yeah, this makes no sense unless he truly isn't ready to play. Hard to know with this franchise.

I got drinks one time with a guy who had been in camp with the Carolina Panthers as a punter when they had all pro (and all PED) Todd Sauerbrun punting for them.
It was a fascinating conversation because it’s all about perfectly repeating the same mechanics every snap. Which is why he told me even the slightest injury would wreck a punter’s mechanics and career. Which happened to him and ultimately, Sauerbrun.
Chris Kluwe spoke about punting mechanics quite a bit when he was given endless "why can't punters also kick FGs and teams could save a roster spot?" questions. Really interesting analysis on the skills and muscles needed for punting.
No punishment for Hill smacking a guy at a marina. I would hope "accidentally" bringing your gun to the airport will also go unpunished. Guns change things but I would argue hitting a man is the worse offense here.
Dolphins seem to think he will. Got roughly 1.1 million of his contract guaranteed and the 18th richest punter contract in the league. I just can't see it. But as much as I hate the Dolphins I hope he succeeds in bouncing back. Always seemed like a good kid.
