I love the promos that try to make the Celtics look tough:
View attachment 63374
White: What's happening right now?
Al: (I'm actually scared of him a little bit here.)
Malcolm: I just look like this all the time.
JB: Yo, these kicks I'm wearing are sweet right?
JT: Mmmm, can't wait for lunch.
TimeLord: Don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh.
Marcus: I'm just going to do my James Harden peace-out gif impression. That should work.
The expressions are definitely amusing, but the really great thing about this image is seven deep.

Poor Grant, though. :(

Hauser fans are going to love this matchup for their guy. In 3 games this year vs Atlanta he’s shot 4-5, 5-6 and 8-14 from three. He’s going to see some action.
Indeed. Hawk wings should strike ZERO fear into CJM.

The way I see the Hawks picking off a game or two is a bad 3pt night from the JAYs/Smart who have been on the shelf for ~10 days.

Besides his 3pt shooting, Hauser is the antidote to opening up the floor for JAY rim runs.

Yeah I mean I was grasping at straws trying to come up with something that the Hawks do that would concern the Celtics. I don't think there are many if any.
There's really not. I mean, Trae could go off one game, but even if he scores 50, he's giving up 55 at the other end.

I am experiencing some eerie deja vu playing the Hawks in Round 1. I think the C’s win, but the Hawks give them some trouble…again. That said, I would enjoy history repeating itself. Good karma.

It's a bummer that Kornet's face did not make the cut. His in game facial expressions are a hoot. His mean mug would be fun to see.

Is he even going to do that? He played 73 games this year, has zero 50+ games and here is his list of 40+…..

@Milwaukee (kudos), 42
@Houston, 44
Minnesota, 41

That’s it.

Yeah. I just mean, per the conventional wisdom (I know, I know), he's this alpha scorer, so he could go off. I don't really see it happening though.

I wouldn’t trade Smart for Trae straight up. And I’m far from a Smart stan. I hate Young’s game with a passion.

Guys, it's Hawks FanTV and it says "let's have some fun." I don't think anyone is taking it seriously.

Thanks. @DGreenwood could you edit this into your OP so we can all find it easily?

Surprised the Cs will basically go head-to-head with the Bruins on Friday. At least they'll be back-to-back for G4s on Sunday (Bruins 3:30, Celtics 7:00).

I think my only concern is the small chance that Quinn Snyder - who is still new for them- can get the Hawks to play defense. The team does have two strong interior defenders with Capela and Onkongwu, and against Miami they were able to lead the team to an impressive defensive performance. That was a different Hawks team than we saw during the regular season - let’s hope it wasn’t the beginning of a new direction for the team.

Grant being the 9th man in an 8 man playoff rotation will be interesting to watch….. in a contract year.

He'll switch with Hauser next round. He's a victim of Atlanta being both bad and a team that gets destroyed by smaller lineups. He'll get minutes against PHI or MIL

Yeah I doubt he’s not going to play in the playoffs.

But being a swing 8th/9th man matchup kind of guy probably isn’t what he envisioned.

Hauser in 11 minutes had the same amount of points as DNP-CD Grant Williams. Hauser did manage one rebound.

I thought his defense was surprisingly decent. Trae can be hard to guard, and there was one possession in particular where Trae tried some moves to get off a shot, but Hauser stuck with him and Trae was stuck with a poor fallback jumper.

He won’t be past this series. Atlanta was the one team he has no role against. He gets it, he was the first guy off the bench to support teammates on multiple timeouts.

Have to say, this speaks to Grant as a teammate, given the stakes (for the season and his life earning$).

Grant is going to have moments versus Giannis that make us almost completely forget his 2022-23 season. He’s going to matter, book it.

He seemed really happy for the team today despite the DNP. He wants a championship and I hope he gets it.

Tatum's scoring looked really effortless today.

On the flipside, Brown's mid-range was really not there today - I wonder if the cut was bothering him.

Better than 3-10 outside of the paint (with some pretty ugly jumpers) would also be nice. The Celtics don't need him at 100% for this series, but they absolutely will for the rest of the playoffs.

For me, its the playoffs and efficiency as well as flawless execution is secondary. This is where your stars shine of course and the Celtics have more than a few.

Just win. Win your matchups more than the opposition and advance. Its a different game in the playoffs as we all know.

Interesting that Snyder pulled Young at 8:10 left in 4Q with Cs up 18 and did not put him back into the game for almost 6 minutes (2:21; ATL had gotten game down to 12 but then Al hit a 3P to get it back to 15).

BOS can get any shot they want when Young is on the floor.

Finally, according to this article, by going 1-5 from 3P, Trae is now 8-49 from 3P including last year's MIA series. Article says that this is the worst 3P shooting over a seven-game playoff stretch in NBA history.

Yeah, Trae is basically IT on defense, or worse Dame however you want to term it. He needs to score like that to not be a negative in the playoffs, and the Celtics have so many guys they can throw at him that just swallow him up with size and have the discipline and footwork to keep in his space without fouling.

This isn’t Grant’s first rodeo. He had a DNP-CD vs Atlanta in the regular season and I’m sure he had a conversation with an Asst Coach on why he isn’t a good fit for a game against these Hawks. Be our ML Carr for 4-5 games and get mentally prepared for a significant role the rest of the way.
