I think they said in the broadcast it was his first 20pt 4th quarter in his career...which didn't sound right?
Looney's fully back looked good
It was his 38th career 20-point quarter — which, to clarify, passed Kobe as the most by any player *since 1996.* Before that, they didn’t keep track of play by play data. I think we can assume Wilt for starters racked up more than that while averaging 35-50 ppg in his prime.
I can actually believe it’s Steph’s first 4th quarter over 20, tho, since (1) at his peak the Ws were blowing most teams out and he was sitting a ton of 4th quarters; and (2) even when he has played in the 4th, his typical rotation pattern throughout his career (which has changed slightly this season) was to play the entire first and third quarters, and sit the first ~6 minutes of the second and fourth quarters. So I’d assume most if not all of his 20 point quarters were either the the first or the third.
As for Loon: yeah, he’s been a freaking rock for us. He’s pulling 12.9 boards per 36 on the season, which is further evidence that you don’t have to be over 6-9 or able to leap over a phone book to be a beast on the glass. Last night, with Dray still out with his bulging disk issue, Bjelica out with back spasms, and Wiseman still inching back in what has to be the longest meniscus recovery ever, Loon held it down with 6-6 Toscano-Anderson and 6-8 Kuminga the de facto backup centers.
Meanwhile, Wiggins the last two games has been like, “ah well, if BamBam is gonna make me an all-star starter, I might as well play like one.” Just a smooth, confident beast of efficiency on both ends of the floor.
