Or put another way, there is not a Chiefs fan younger than me who can honestly claim they vividly remember the last time they were in the Super Bowl (I'm 59).

They have a long and storied history of coming up small when it matters most.

I hope that trend continues.

Not a fan of the tomahawk chop, Mahomes and his incessant pointing, Kelce and his histrionics after every catch, that coconut headed ballbag Sorensen, that arm breaker Hill or them continually committing OPI and getting away with it, ie, those pic plays they run all game long.

And the Reid choke factor at home in the championship game is always in play, like in 2003, 2004 and last year.
You're right about Kelce. He really is an obnoxious douche. Let's go Titans. I hope Henry runs for 240 yards.

The Chiefs haven't been to the Super Bowl since 1969. I think I knew that, but I didn't know that. Wow, 50 years and blanked.

I don't know, that's a lot of history to overcome. Andy Reid is going to choke.
This is only the third time they've even been to a conference championship game since then. Once with Joe Montana, now two with Mahomes.

This is mostly uncharted territory for the Chiefs. Same thing for the Titans franchise too, really.

I'm buying what you are selling, I want to see smash mouth football and Henry run wild on the Chiefs, keeping the ball away from Mahomes in the process.

As a random aside, I just saw a picture of Ryan Tannehill on twitter and I realized I had never actually seen his face. Ever. That's incredible.

Three times in 50 years.

Yikes.

That's Cleveland Browns level bad.

Before they moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens.

It’s a bittersweet day when Jim Nantz is calling his last football game of the season. And this might be the last game of the Nantz/Romo pairing.
That's bonkers. This is the greatest news a person could ever hear. Here's hoping Romo ditches Nantz and his terrible announcing. Nantz will always be inflicted upon us at The Masters. It is my cross to bear. But I hope his work load decreases substantially in the future. He's cooked.

I'd trade 2 months of either Jimmy G regret or media tlking about Rodgers as GOAT for a Tennessee win today. (My way of saying I care much more about AFC then NFC today)

The bigger question is if the Titans get to the Super Bowl, will he end up throwing for 300 yards?

In the four playoff games?

Combined?

But I do wonder if they go more with play action passes today as isn't that what the Patriots were afraid of, which is why in the first half of their playoff game they did not have 8 men in the box daring him to throw?

Browns went to the ACF Championship game in 1986, 1987, and 1989. And they lost two of those in excruciating, historic fashion. Ouch, that's a brutal run. Tough to be a Browns fan. My wife is from Cleveland, it's rough.

Feels like Tanny is going to have to throw a little bit today.

Signed up for YouTube TV trial for this.

Anyone know if you can DVR it and have any experience? I have the game programmed into my library now, and I’m gonna miss the first30 mins or so but would like to start from the beginning spoiler free.

Doable?

He's definately cooked.

Fried, dyed and laid to the side.

In the Chiefs/Texans game last week when Hill fumbled that punt and the Texans recovered, didn't he say "Let's wait a minute on this as he clearly signaled for a fair catch" or words to that effect?

Doesn't matter if you signal for a fair catch or not, a fumble is still a live ball.

Guess he was out sick the day when they taught that in broadcasting school.

Titans/Oilers will be playing their fifth in 50 years, and they've gone 1-3 so far. It's not like they've been an AFC juggernaut either. They have their share of bad playoff losses on their resume as well.

I'm not sure what you're asking. But if you're asking can you DVR the game and then come along 40 minutes after it started and begin watching from the beginning, you can do that.

you should be able to say start from beginning instead of start from live. Or straight from a recording it might start at beginning anyways.

What the Bills' offense did to that Oilers team in the 3rd quarter of that game was almost exactly like what the Chiefs did to the Texans last week in the 2nd quarter. Scoring every possession, and scoring quickly.

I always liked those Warren Moon Oilers teams when I was a kid (and before it came out that he a wife beating piece of shit), but they always came up small in the playoffs. Every time.

He always looks ruggeder (word?) in street clothes than in his uniform, especially in the face. Football Ref says he’s 6’4, 207, which is not skinny, but he does look skinny on the field.

Just watched Willie McGinest interview Vrabel on NFLN. Entitled Pats fan thinking why couldn’t he be kept around to replace BB when he rides off into the sunset. He seems to be all business.

He's got a gigantic neck. But six four, 207 is moderately skinny, especially in the NFL.

Same for me. 8, 5, and almost 4.
My nephew lives in Madison, CT. He's 15. He was over my apartment in Week 17 of the season. That was the debacle against the Dolphins. My nephew couldn't process how the Pats lost an important game. Like, he never even considered the possibility they could lose. He was obliterated and shocked.

The Pats have spoiled a lot of people. It cannot be overstated how epic they have been, especially in the back half of the dynasty.

Great Curran article today. I liked the snippet about walking to the moon.

If you walked non-stop for eight years at a clip of 3.5 mph, you would walk 245,248 miles. The moon is 238,000 miles away. So you could have walked to the moon then walked/floated around up there for another 7,000 miles in the same time it took for somebody to dislodge the Patriots.

it wasn't that cold last year in KC on Championship Sunday, right? a cold game should favor running.

EDIT: Looks like about 20-25 with no wind then. Right now it's 18 with some wind gusts.

Feels like 5, with the wind. I think last year it was around 20 degrees, give or take 5. So it's about the same, I think.

I'm rooting for Titans-49ers
but expect a 49ers-Chiefs SB.

Fox probably wants a rematch of SB 1 as it works with the nostalgic NFL 100 marketing bullshit
The Chiefs/Packers Super Bowl would be a dream for the NFL. But I just cannot envision a scenario where the refs make bad and/or shady calls in an important NFL football game. It'll be clean and it'll be fair.

I didn't mean to imply the fix was in. Just being inundated with NFL/Fox marketing the crap out of Lombardi and Stram, and Starr and Dawson etc for the next 2 weeks. While the 49ers are a good story, the Titans just don't carry the same nostalgic magic.

Do not underestimate the narrative potential of Vrabel's penis.

This is cause for great rejoicing. IMHO Niners have looked unstoppable lately and Killer Mike Vrabel will out-coach the Master of Space and Time.
