View: https://twitter.com/oldbeigeguy/status/1185228306204913664?s=21In 2001, Randy Johnson put in an inning in Game 7 despite having started Game 6 the previous night. And he was 37. Yeah, sure, he was also in the 3rd year of a run of 4 consecutive cy young awards and is probably one of the best 5 pitchers of all time, but it's not like Verlander is chopped liver.
At least 45% ostrich by volume.randy johnson wasnt human those years
That's less than Ted Williams' red seat blast.2 HR with a combined distance of 702 feet.
The legend grows. That's less than Ted Williams' red seat blast.
Well he could have grounded or popped out weakly.Crowd didn’t know a strikeout was coming there?
Game 7 with Cole at home is a tough out. Natstown is happy though.Wow, Astros didn't show up tonight. I think they're in real trouble.
Yup. They delivered. Houston is in great shape but this series is far from over.Good answer by the Yankees.
Why? Baseball games are pretty much independent events and Houston's pitching is still in decent shape. The Yankees are going to need someone to pitch next game and its not as if they are loaded with front-end starters.Wow, Astros didn't show up tonight. I think they're in real trouble.
I know Tim McCarver is a blowhard is an announcer, but he did have a long career as a player and played in three World Series -- including 1968, when the Cardinals blew a 3-1 series lead. Why? I don't know what "playing with urgency" means but Aroldis Chapman is a very good pitcher, as you know, and he is trying just as hard to get hitters out as they are to hit him. As you also know, the probabilities generally favor the team in the field each AB. I mean, perhaps you are correct and Houston took this game lightly, however I am not inclined to believe a team that features so many players who have been there before plus a very good manager did that.I know Tim McCarver is a blowhard is an announcer, but he did have a long career as a player and played in three World Series -- including 1968, when the Cardinals blew a 3-1 series lead.
I saw an interview with him once and he said St. Louis played with no urgency in Games 5 and 6 because they assumed Bob Gibson would win Game 7 like he did in 1964 and 1967. They thought he was unbeatable. They didn't hit in Game 7, Curt Flood misplayed a fly ball into a two-run triple in Game 7, and Gibson, who pitched well, lost.
It looked like Astros played this game like they just wanted to get on the plane as fast as possible. Chapman didn't even break a sweat, and he's the sweatiest human since Patrick Ewing.
Not dark enough. There's a great post on the (fictitious) backstories on these people; it's a truly exceptional piece of creative writing. It's my traditional reading on Yankee Elimination Day; hopefully I'll be re-reading it tonight https://www.progressiveboink.com/2012/5/31/2995814/yankeesfans-gif-animated-yankee-enthusiasts-story
This is great news. Depending on $, would be a good OOGY at 4 Jersey St.The Astros window to win is right now. Cole is gone next season, Verlander will be 37, Will Harris is a free agent, decisions need to be made on Correa and Springer long term. They’ve got options in the system, but nothing that will immediately replace Cole and an aging Verlander. They can’t choke this opportunity.
They have McCullers coming back also.Whitley had a rough year but is still an elite prospect. Tucker had a pretty promising debut for a 22 year old. they will lose Cole but I dont think they are gonna be small market team
The A’s have 4 SPs they mostly didn’t have all season, Manaea, Montas, Luzardo and Puk, and they won 97 games mostly without them. They look quite loaded.and yea, the As are solid but not some dominant force. the rest of that division is trash.
ahh i forgot all about luzardo. regardless, i dont think the Astros window is closing, they have tons of money and some solid young talent. The A’s have 4 SPs they mostly didn’t have all season, Manaea, Montas, Luzardo and Puk, and they won 97 games mostly without them. They look quite loaded.
Except one out guys are gone in 2020.This is great news. Depending on $, would be a good OOGY at 4 Jersey St.
