I don't think he's going to start again, so it makes sense.Corbin in now. I think he could be good for two innings.
He may be in for two innings, but he certainly wasn't good.Corbin in now. I think he could be good for two innings.
Fact.He may be in for two innings, but he certainly wasn't good.
I mean, it makes sense from that perspective, but it's just because they are desperate and don't trust (correctly) half of their staff. Corbin threw 107 pitches Thursday against this same team, so 2 days rest against guys who just saw him and his first relief appearance since 2017.I don't think he's going to start again, so it makes sense.
And location too. What a hanger.Corbin = lack of control
You're giving Dusty Baker a pass?Between Dave Martinez and Matt Williams, you could argue the Nats have had two of the worst managers this century.
And in the case of the Nats, that someone is everyone. This won't be the first time this postseason where someone pulls their starter after 5 innings and then the pen blows it. When you do that you increase the chance of putting someone out there that just doesn't have it.
Hendrick's baserunning gaffe is absolutely inexcusable.Bases loaded and nobody out and only scoring 2 seems like a fail
When there are 5 guys on the staff who can get anyone out, and one of them just finished 5 innings, and two others are unavailable, and the other 2 are basically one inning guys, what choice does he really have?Just when you think Martinez finally gets a handle on managing pitchers, this.
Them not having anyone better than Kendrick to play is inexcusableHendrick's baserunning gaffe is absolutely inexcusable.
And so he took his starter out why?I mean, at some point you have to acknowledge that even if Martinez pulled all the "right" levers, he has little in the way of decent pitching behind his starters.
Mystics won! One game from the Championship.Quite an award winning day for sports in the DC area today, two massacres.
Should have pulled Corbin after the Martin double, or maybe the Taylor walk -- he was clearly laboring at that point, and it's still a winnable game at 3-2.Granted, I didn’t see the game, but I’m not sure how Martinez’s move to bring in Corbin was all that different from how Cora managed his bullpen last year - other than the results, of course.
The next guy in gave up a HR and a booming double to the first two batters he saw, the reason Corbin was in on two days rest to begin with was that they had no way of covering those innings competently.Should have pulled Corbin after the Martin double, or maybe the Taylor walk -- he was clearly laboring at that point, and it's still a winnable game at 3-2.
The guys who came in rang up a 20.25 ERA the first time through the order. Just giving up one per inning would have been a tremendous improvement. The Nats don't have the luxury of taking the ball from anyone who happens to be getting results in any game.Sanchez has a 9 ERA third time through the order. It was the right move taking him out.
Heavy rain, but it stopped.? I don't know what this means.
Thanks. Which NL team are you, as a NY fan, least enthusiastic about facing?Heavy rain, but it stopped.
I think NY is the second best team behind HOU, so getting there against any of them would be great. NY would have home field against all but the Dodgers, so rooting against them. Those NL bullpens are all brutal though, I think the AL winner wins it all.Thanks. Which NL team are you, as a NY fan, least enthusiastic about facing?
