Clippers can afford to take this flier with back-to-back picks. Other GM's cannot risk their lottery pick to be an injury bust as a rookie if that is what occurs.

Sounds more like the Clippers weren't the only team working with Charlotte to get up to 11 for Gilgeous-Alexander.
I would honestly take a risk on Porter only because we could afford it if it doesn't work out.

I think regret is too strong and it actually helps a lot from a long term financial standpoint to roll the lottery pick to next year; hell I think the most likely scenario for the Sac pick next year is trading down to pick up a future first - always have extra picks in case a star becomes available. Just would have been nice to have Horford’s heir lined up.
