I don't even know who this Elliot guy is but he is very confident in his bjj and he has a very old school style
Yeah, that 30-26 score from one of the judges was crazy. I like how Stann even made it a point to immediately call it out.I had 29-27 Cejudo, so did 1 other judge. Other 2 judges saw a totally different fight.
I saw that too and my first instinct was not to trust PropaganDana, but maybe I'm just cynical. With Ronda coming back I guess they need to slag Cyborg again.Apparently Dana has offered Cyborg two different title fights at 145, but was turned down. Cyborg said she didn't have enough time to make weight. One fight was 8 weeks out, the other 10, I think.
Does that sound legit, or is there something elsee going on beyond weight? Money maybe? UFC being willing to establish a new women's weight class at 145 seems like a big deal.
I'm a pretty loyal listener of Rogan, and I had to shut it off. I agree with much of your assessment, but mostly he sounded really, really...really dumb.Anyone listen to Rogan's podcast with Jon Jones? To no one's surprise, JBJ comes across as disingenuous, narcissistic, and pretty much all around douche bag.
I listened to the first half with my wife. We agreed that taking a break from binge drinking and heavy pot smoking isn't addressing whatever causes him to do stupid shit.I'm a pretty loyal listener of Rogan, and I had to shut it off. Which brings their title count to 11. It's too many since I don't care about watching half the champions fight. If Cruz and Aldo had a super fight, I'd watch, but more often than not I don't care to watch them defend their belts (Same is true of Johnson). My interest in the women's division begins and ends with Rousey. I want to see her take on Holm or Cyborg in 2017 and that's about it.UFC starting women's 145
I think I'd like to see her fight Claudia G. first to get a better sense of how good she is. Waterson is fun to watch, but I could see JJ's size/reach advantage + takedown defense + movement all being too much for Waterson.Ok, I want to see the Karate Hottie fight Johanna Violence. Potentially enough striking skill and danger to keep JJ from punching her into oblivion, and clearly superior grappling skills that could threaten the champ.
This is a really tough one because nobody really knows what to expect out of Ronda. Is the fact that she took so much time off a sign that she's permanently shaken? Or did she really use that time to get right mentally and better prepare herself for another world class striker? She has been working with the Diaz brothers' trainer.Ronda's the favorite in this fight? Any reason why I shouldn't put a ton on Nunes at +110?
Cuz a lot of fish may move the line closer to fight day?Ronda's the favorite in this fight? Any reason why I shouldn't put a ton on Nunes at +110?
How is Ronda the favorite? Long layoff and her first fight back is against an absolute stand up killer.Ronda's the favorite in this fight? Any reason why I shouldn't put a ton on Nunes at +110?
But isn't that the dude who's pretty wah wah about her dating Matt Brown or whatever that lanky schmuck's name is?
Yea but I don't know that he's butt hurt over it. Brendan Schaub is a much better MMA commentator than he was a fighter. But isn't that the dude who's pretty wah wah about her dating Matt Brown or whatever that lanky schmuck's name is?
I don't see Anik being the face of a dream team.Ariel Helwani tweeted that Dana White confirmed it. It'll be a change. I hope Jon Anik makes the step up, he seems like a good dude.
Right. I was sort of agreeing with you in saying that it was his opinion and that his generalization might be misguided. But it's certainly a perspective that a lot of people share.Obviously, he'd taken an L here or there, but what's the difference between her mindset and McGregor's? You really can't ever tell how anyone is going to react coming off a loss of any kind, and a knockout is a whole different layer of psychological pressure.
Isn't uncertainty what the whole 135 pound women's division is?I like Nunes on paper but there is just too much overall uncertainty with how that fight might go. Like Holm before her I would still need to see Nunes shine again under the brightest lights before I'm completely buying in to her being a killer.
Yeah this is probably right. I just don't have any faith in the Ronda camp's ability to adjust to anything. Going in I have to assume her training and plan is total shit.Yea but I don't know that he's butt hurt over it. Brendan Schaub is a much better MMA commentator than he was a fighter.
Ronda is a big chick and she can't move like Nunes can, she can't strike like she can, and I'm betting Nunes can defend Ronda's telegraphed judo throws. Ring rust is real and I'd put my house on Nunes.*
* I don't actually have a house.
He's not just any dude though. He's a public figure and one of the biggest voices in MMA media. Is he supposed to not talk about Ronda?I'm all for betting on Nunes, I just question any dude talking about his ex's mental problems, though with Rousey there's a lot of smoke around her being really off since the knockout.
After I saw your post I quickly rushed over to his wiki page and saw this:Hendricks misses weight again. What a steep decline.
Might as well get a head start on that "Major Free Agent acquisition!" hype coming out of Bellator.Hendricks misses weight again. What a steep decline.
So how does this work? Is the fight cancelled, or can he weigh in again later? Obviously, that would be a huge disadvantage as he should be trying to recover at this point. And if it's cancelled, is it considered a forfeit/loss or did it never happen?Hendricks misses weight again. What a steep decline.
@Marciano It looks like the line in moving towards Ronda post weigh in
Nah. If it's being reported that he missed weight it's because he missed weight. Meaning the "weigh ins" you're gonna see in an hour or two aren't really the official weigh ins. Those are done earlier in the day so we don't have to see skeletors face off and almost pass out because they clenched a fist.So how does this work? Is the fight cancelled, or can he weigh in again later? Obviously, that would be a huge disadvantage as he should be trying to recover at this point. And if it's cancelled, is it considered a forfeit/loss or did it never happen?
Thanks for the thorough answer!IIRC, They can only fight if they weigh-in within 7 pounds of each other, and the guy who made weight can still turn it down. If they are within 7 pounds and the fight goes on, the guy missing weight forfeits a percentage of his payout to his opponent, something like 20%, and also can't get any bonuses (Fight of the night, etc). If they aren't within 7 pounds, or if the other guy turns it down, then the fight is scrapped; the guy making weight still gets paid and the guy missing weight doesn't. The fight isn't counted anywhere.
He'll make a good warm up fight for RoryMight as well get a head start on that "Major Free Agent acquisition!" hype coming out of Bellator.
