He could have scored. Missed the 3B coach waving him in

Harold was right -- the coach was way too close to the bag, and the signal was so late Cain had already put on the brakes and then it was too late.  Third base coach gakked that one in a major way, though given Peavy's numbers against Country Waffle House, holding may have been the right play there anyway.  I think if Cain is loping around third and gets an early signal and doesn't slow, it takes a perfect play to get him.

Yeah, but way late and he was standing next to the bag instead of up the line.

With two out, he was probably caught anticipating not having the third out made at the plate, and got caught in no man's land when the slip happened

Went back and Cain was kind of dogging it between first and second though, expecting to be stopping at second. He turned on the jets when Ishi fell, but lost a second maybe.

For those who are dying to know, the three road winners are

Yankees at Phillies, Game 6 2009
Marlins at Yankees, Game 6 2003

My radio broadcast is at least 10 seconds faster than the TV broadcast. It's pretty annoying.
I tried that with KNBR, SF, two games ago, and it was about a pitch and a half faster. That's probably 20 plus seconds. A lot more info to be processed for TV, HD and all, so the sound is delayed. Too bad. I guess there are synch devices.

The Yankees won Game 6 at home. Matsui rocked Pedro at the Stadium that night.

Aoki is a zoo out there. I could see him pulling a Nelson Cruz before this night is done.

I was thinking the other day why Aoki over Dyson who -- despite the bobble in Game 5 -- is clearly the better defender and isn't awful at the plate

Peavy doesn't look great. Might want to get someone up.

The most talented Giants team never even made the playoffs (in a 102-win season!)

Hmmm.  The 1993 team won 103 out of 162 games and finished second in their division, true.

But some other Giants teams might take offense at being left out of the "most talented" category.

1962: won 101 out of 162, then beat the Dodgers in a playoff to reach the World Series, in which they lost 4-3 to the Yankees.

1912: won 103 out of 151, then lost to Red Sox in the World Series 4-3

1905: won 103 out of 145, beat Philadelphia Athletics to win the World Series 4-1.

1904: won 106 out of 153, no World Series

Groundball to the right side, Peavy yells "home" which makes the fielder hesitate, it turns into a footrace to first...and Escobar wins handily.

Slow roller to 1B.  Peavy seemed to think contact was on or was too blind to know the runner wasn't trying to score, so he pointed home, causing the first baseman to temporarily freeze, and then he couldn't get the out at first.
