I find it funny that Missouri lost to Indiana at home and they're in the championship game.

NAIA Update

No revenge for Morningside. That Marian TD opened the floodgates, as the Knights added 27 more in the 2nd half while shutting out the Mustangs on the way to a 41-21 win. Hayden Northern completes 19-of-30 for 318 yards & 2 TDs (and runs 42 yards for another score), while the Marian defense picks Morningside QB Ryan Kasdorf 4 times.

SOU now up on SXU 41-24 with 4:29 left in Q3.

The winner faces Marian for the title in Daytona Beach on Friday 12/19 at 3 pm on ESPNU.

Southern Oregon and Saint Xavier (IL) combine for 99 points as SOU advances to the championship, 62-37. Raiders QB Austin Dodge connects on 32 of 51 passes to 9 receivers for 460 yards & 5 TDs.

Slick move by the winner taking balls out of the barrel two at a time. She got a ton of throws off!

"What do you plan on doing with the tuition money?"

What a stupid question.

Gotta use it towards tuition, though. Maybe she could use it to live on campus the rest of her life. Provided she's in-state, of course.

Dr Pepper held the same contest at the Pac 12 title game last night, and the girl AND the guy both used chest passes.

The girl won.

How large are college rosters? Not that it's a bad GPA, but when you're picking out the guy with a 3.2 from a roster that size as "Scholar athlete of the week," it's kind of depressing.

And it was by far the most entertaining moment of the night.  The girl wrecked him, like 14-9.  She was a machine, I think she missed once in 30 seconds.

FCS Second-Round Playoff Update

Six teams are on to the quarterfinals:

* After #16 Fordham drew to within 14-12 of #1 New Hampshire, the Wildcats crushed the Rams, 44-19. Sean Goldrich hit 22 of 37 for 240 yards, and 7 UNH rushers combined for 6 TDs and 270 ground yards on 46 carries (5.9-yard average).

* #8 Chattanooga proved too much for #24 Indiana State, winning 35-14 while outgaining the Hoosiers 503-178 (including 262-27 rushing) and holding ISU to just one 3rd-down conversion in 10 tries. Jacob Huesman was The Man, completing 15 of 24 for 241 yards and a TD, and rushing 31 times for 153 yards and 2 more scores.

* #7 Coastal Carolina was all over #10 Richmond, 36-15, despite the Spiders' Mike Strauss throwing for 402 yards on the day. The Chanticleers pounded it on the ground, with 56 carries by 6 rushers for 316 yards and 3 TDs. Richmond converted just 2 of 15 times on 3rd down, and committed 8 penalties for 86 yards.

* Trailing Ohio Valley champ #3 Jacksonville (AL) State 26-24 at the half, #14 Sam Houston State outscored the Gamecocks 13-0 after the break to earn the 37-26 road upset despite being outgained 513 yards to 402. The culprits: Two JSU turnovers (none for SHU) and a dozen JSU penalties for a whopping 129 yards. The setback snaps a 10-game win streak for Jacksonville State, which lost its opener to Michigan State 45-7.

* As Monty noted earlier, #5 Illinois State avenges its only loss of the season by sprinting out to a 24-0 halftime lead before eliminating conference rival #12 Northern Iowa, 41-21. Big day for Tre Roberson, who connects on 22 of 33 for 382 yards, 4 TDs and no picks. Marshaun Coprich chews up the clock with 148 yards on 30 carries for the Redbirds, while the Panthers manage just 33 yards on 25 carries as a team.

* In a tight intrastate, intraconference battle that was tied at the half (14-14) and after 3 quarters (17-17), host #2 North Dakota State got a 12-yard pass from Carson Wentz to R.J. Urzendowski with 0:54 left in the game for a 27-24 win over arch-rival #18 South Dakota State. The score by the Bison capped an 8-play, 76-yard drive after the Jackrabbits had gone ahead 24-20 with 3:18 to play.

Games still ongoing:

* #22 Liberty leads at #6 Villanova, 22-14, and is driving again with 2:24 left in Q3.

* #4 Eastern Washington leads Big Sky rival #13 Montana, 27-10 with 1:52 left in Q3

* In the SWAC title game, Southern appeared to be hungover from its epic Bayou Classic win over Grambling, falling behind Alcorn State 24-10 at the half. The Jaguars tied it with a pair of scores in the 3rd quarter, but the Braves have responded and rebuilt a 14-point margin. It's a 38-24 game with 10:00 left in Q4.

That's an absolutely awful personal foul call on missouri. Just terrible. Guy got a hand on Cooper just as he stepped out, and barely tripped him in the end.

John Robertson to Kevin Gulyas for a 75-yard TD pass, and Nova gets the 2-pointer as Robertson runs it in to tie it 22-22 with 13:12 to play in the 4th.

Southern U. with a 1st & goal, and they fumble it trying to extend the ball over the goal line. On their two previous drives they were stopped on 4th & short. Still down 14 with 4:30 left, this likely seals the SWAC crown for Alcorn.

Villanova fumbles at the Liberty 27-yard line. Flames take over with 10:00 left.

EDIT - The Wildcat D comes up big holding Liberty to a second straight 3-and-out. Nova now back to the Flames 17 with a first down approaching the 3:00 mark after 11 straight running plays pick up 67 yards.

EDIT - Some epic clock-eating by Nova. They get down to the 8 and face 4th & 1 with 2:53 left after Liberty used all 3 timeouts. Yet instead of kicking the lead FG, the go for it -- and make it. Three more running plays later, and they're in the end zone.

That's 18 plays -- all runs -- churning 81 yards and taking 7:11. Liberty will have 1:12 to tie or win it.
