My Spanish is rusty but I believe the report actually says according to a source at the AG’s office there is an investigation of a complaint from a different minor. Not that the AG his/herself said that there is an investigation (as the Gomez tweet suggests)?
The article says the source from the AG states they’re in the middle of an investigation - y la misma está en pleno proceso de investigación.
It’s always best to investigate matters such as this outside the chain of command. Most companies don’t have the capability to outsource this kind of investigation to an entity analogous to MLB, but where that option exists, I think it’s better than having the Rays’ HR department investigate.
It's unusual for someone who isn't organizational filler. I could see them bringing up JAGs if there were a roster shortage at AAA (The WooSox did this mid-year) - but not a highly rated prospect. So, I agree, something seems afoot.
Diario Libre is a Dominican newspaper. Circulation 150,000, per Wikipedia. No idea if that’s a little or a lot. There’s not much written in English about Diario Libre, but certainly nothing that would cause me to question its credibility, and of course Rodriguez citing it carries some weight. Long story short, this seems like a credible report.
