I believe this is just an alternative way of noting that Brissett didn't get 3+ TD in either of his 2 starts in 2016.Jones is the first NE rookie with 3+ pass TD in a game since Drew Bledsoe (4 TD) in Week 18, 1993 vs MIA
Before Bledsoe, the last one to do it was Jim Plunkett who threw 4 in a game in 1971.I believe this is just an alternative way of noting that Brissett didn't get 3+ TD in either of his 2 starts in 2016.
Unless I'm mistaken, no other NE rookies started at QB in between Bledsoe and Mac Jones.
Wasn't Jimmy G a rookie when he filled in for Brady during his suspension?I believe this is just an alternative way of noting that Brissett didn't get 3+ TD in either of his 2 starts in 2016.

No he was a rookie on the 2014 SB team. He was in his third year by then believe it or not.Wasn't Jimmy G a rookie when he filled in for Brady during his suspension?
New England will have collectively failed if there are not multiple farheads of those at the next game. That is awesome. Those pictures will be the first thing BB puts up on the screen in "game film review." Jones is going to get merciless amounts of shit and it will be the greatest team bonding experience in history.
I hope the first question at BB's next press conference relates to Mac's modelling career.New England will have collectively failed if there are not multiple farheads of those at the next game.
Could be worse and be a grown man cuddling goats or having a commercial where he goes into a locked room with just a mattress. That is awesome. That’s…a low bar.Just like to point out that Mac’s handsomeness curve has apparently surpassed Brady’s early career.
This calls for another look at Evan Lazar's CPOE vs EPA/play. This one is for Weeks 4 through 10 (ie, the past 7 games). CPOE looks roughly unchanged but he's in a different place on EPA/play:Mac Jones
First four games: 112-160 (70.0%), 1,012 yds, 6.3 y/a, 4 td, 4 int, 84.7 rating, team averaging 17.8 points a game
Last six games: 111-163 (68.1%), 1,321 yds, 8.1 y/a, 9 td, 3 int, 103.3 rating, team averaging 34.0 points a game

It’s not even a question actually. An interesting question: All other things being equal, would you rather have a QB with great touch and accuracy but a weak arm, or a QB with a cannon but no touch and little accuracy? There are advantages to both situations, of course. And disadvantages too.
Isn’t the latter basically Christian Hackenburg? The question answers itself. An interesting question: All other things being equal, would you rather have a QB with great touch and accuracy but a weak arm, or a QB with a cannon but no touch and little accuracy? Well, it IS a question, actually. Maybe the answer is easy. It’s not even a question actually.
Viewing it as a spectrum as opposed to A vs B, I’m going as far to the touch/accuracy side as one can get before the lack of arm strength renders someone unplayable. An interesting question: All other things being equal, would you rather have a QB with great touch and accuracy but a weak arm, or a QB with a cannon but no touch and little accuracy? We don't want Zach Wilson! An interesting question: All other things being equal, would you rather have a QB with great touch and accuracy but a weak arm, or a QB with a cannon but no touch and little accuracy? There are advantages to both situations, of course. And disadvantages too.
The zipped TD pass to Henry from a few yards out was one of the best I’ve seen him throw. Ball got there in a line and in a hurry and Henry was able to shield off the defender and make the grab.I am incredibly impressed by his accuracy and touch. The TD to Bourne was in a place that only he could get it. But the touch on the over-the-shoulder sideline throws all season have been really impressive to me. It's an area where, dare I say it, he outdoes TB12.
The answer is easy. An inaccurate QB with a cannon is not what any team wants.Well, it IS a question, actually. Maybe the answer is easy.
This is what's weird to me about the offense currently. Because two of those games are AMAZING. And the other two weren't very good (the Bears, at 4.7 yards per play, are dead last in the NFL in that category). The highs are higher than last year, and the lows aren't quite as low, but the ratio of good games to bad ones is about the same.Last four games:
54 points, 74 plays, 551 yards, 7.4 yards per play, 32:12 TOP
27 points, 75 plays, 352 yards, 4.7 yards per play, 35:24 TOP
24 points, 59 plays, 273 yards, 4.6 yards per play, 32:29 TOP
45 points, 62 plays, 452 yards, 7.3 yards per play, 34:02 TOP
AVG: 37.5 points, 67.5 plays, 407.0 yards, 6.1 yards per play, 33:32 TOP
A lot of those 20 yarders have been outstanding play calling on short stuff and outstanding blocking downfield. This team has become very impressive on getting the big guys down the field to block, creating lanes and good blocking by skill position players. It's a bit football nerdy, but it's fun as shit to see in action.View: https://twitter.com/danorlovsky7/status/1460569933889290241?s=20
The offense really has been something for the past month. I seem to remember it took them forever to have any big plays for the first few weeks.
Well, consider the defenses they've played. The Jets are bad. The Chargers are mediocre (#17 in yards allowed), but the last two defenses they've played are elite. Carolina was #1 in the NFL when they played NE (they're still #2, and #6 in points allowed) and Cleveland was #3 (after the NE game they're #5). So managing 24 and 45 points, and 273 and 452 yards, against those defenses, is pretty darned good. This is what's weird to me about the offense currently. Because two of those games are AMAZING. OUTSTANDING performance against Cleveland, no doubt about it. But the offense only scored 17 points against the Panthers, which isn't very good (it also turned the ball over twice, which is also bad). So it was a weak offensive performance. And the 27 points against the Chargers, again, is buoyed by a pick-six. So it's two below-average offensive performances sandwiched by two extraordinary ones. What can we expect going forward? I'm not really sure. The overall numbers look good, but most weeks the offense has been below-average. OTOH when they've been good, they've been AMAZING. Looking forward to a matchup Thursday against a crappy defense, hopefully they can build on Sunday's performance.Well, consider the defenses they've played. The Jets are bad.
