Gotta disagree with the bolded. Kinda sad a million or so dead people from an unnecessary, disastrously planned war seem as just a normal political decision. To me it is sad that people let this slide, including democrats. Of course Trump is a whole new level of dangerous.

You could get shut down on this board for inferior posting and that would not be a first amendment violation but a mercy to those around you.

You really need to understand that the freedom of speech guaranteed in the constitution is by and from the state. These freedoms are not guaranteed by private enterprises. So ESPN can fire Schillig for being a homophobic, racist prick, and the Red Sox can not invite him to anything they choose for whatever reasons they decide.

Exactly. There are some that think it is a free pass for anything they say. I have seen parents bring in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms when their kid is suspended for cursing out a teacher.

They had better not give Trump any kind of Red Sox jersey, much less a #45.

If they have to give him something, the perfect gift would be a commemorative World Championship bat with the team's informal slogan on it: "Damage Done".

Trump would be pleased, as he would get to wave a bat around, which is much more his style than putting on a shirt that says "Boston" on it.

“Damage Done.” Perfect. Trump probably won’t get the joke, or pretend not to, which would make it all the more funny.

Glad to see this. About time our teams (any teams) acted mature and not as spoiled infants.

For the jersey, Trump should get 18 (to life).

This will be a story on the day that it happens, and maybe the Globe will run a picture of it. That's pretty much all that is going to happen and it's really not worth getting that upset about.

Henry and Werner may want to leave their World Series rings at home when they visit the White House. Trump will be looking to steal a ring like his buddy Putin did to Kraft.

    Sir,
    You seem offended.
Have we met before and I forgot the encounter?
    Have I somehow offended you?
    Respectfully,
    Hawk

No one is "offended" by your posts invoking the first amendment in reference to the Sox possibly snubbing Schilling anymore than someone gets "offended" by the suggestion that the earth is flat or that the Sox would score more runs if they had a better field goal kicker.

    Sir,
Perhaps you should reread my original post you critique. You will of course then realize your error.

I originally wrote only to note Mr. Schilling's posts are lawful, regardless of the emotional reactons others may have to them.

I hope this reduces your confusion.
    Respectfully,
    Hawk

I am already tired of this Hawk person. Before I put him on ignore I would like to respectfully request that people respond by typing @Hawk68 rather than quoting the entire post. TIA, ITP.

You know, I've lurked here long enough to remember when a lot of this board threw a hissy fit when Tim Thomas didn't visit the Obama white house because he didn't like Obama. A bunch of "respect the office", etc. The same thing even happened when Brady didn't go in 2015, even when he didn't say it was because of politics.

I think Obama did far more damage to this country than Trump has and was pretty proud of Tim Thomas for standing up to Obama like that. If the narrative back then was "I don't agree with his political views, but I respect his right not to go, and there's nothing wrong with him not going", then I would begrudgingly accept the position of this board as different from mine, but logically consistent.

Currently though, this is basically Liberals contorting themselves into believing that their beliefs are unambiguously superior and the people who don't agree with them are just dumb rubes. I support President Trump. I think he's done a pretty good job so far, especially with judges and taxes, but he's also done a great job with deregulation and fighting ISIS. I do think he goes too far some times and should stop tweeting, and I don't particularly agree with him on immigration and trade, but there are worse flaws to have in a President. I also respect that many people may not like Trump, and should not be forced to go to the White House. That's fine too! The problem is the people who act all indignant at the fact that someone dares to have a different belief from them, and may actually like President Trump! When consuming pop culture, Conservatives have put up with people who disagree with them for years. I hate the politics of many actors and musicians I listen to all the time (as well as football players!) but that doesn't mean they're suddenly evil people, they just have different opinions than me, and I can separate my taste for their entertainment from my disagreement with their politics. Liberals, you would do well to do the same thing. I disagree with any Red Sox player who chooses not to go, but also am not going to throw a fit over it. I would be really upset if the whole team acquiesced to the Liberal mob and forced the organization not to go, even when many players likely are supporters of our President.

I think it's important to recognize that Conservatives are people just like all of you, and while they may have a difference of opinion with you, that doesn't make them bad people, it doesn't mean they're evil. They just have different morals and support different things. There are plenty of things Liberals support that I believe to be morally heinous, but I do not believe Liberals actually support the mass murder of innocent infants, they clearly have a different, in my opinion, misguided, reason for the policies they support.

I agree with most of what you say...Trump is a harsh person who rubs many the wrong way, but for the most part I like what he is doing. The alternative would have been a disaster.
The left leaning media is molding the minds of most that don't follow the news daily and politics in general. It's sad, but so true. Many don't even realize the slant because just about every outlet has the same ideology..except FOX. That's why so many left leaning people believe FOX is fake news.
Journalism is dead in this country..the last election certainly proved that to be so.
Of course the Sox should accept the invitation, and those that don't want to attend don't have to.
