Something big brewing in Colorado, according to Mirtle.
Figure we should have a catchall thread for the action tomorrow as well
Wouldn't he be distilling rather than brewing?Matt Duchene would be my guess.
So how is this different than any other Friday for you?Yeah, I'm hoping to completely mail in my work tomorrow and instead just hit refresh on twitter continuously.
Ha. I wish I had more free time to fuck off. Alas, it is not to be for me anymore. Life and stuff. So how is this different than any other Friday for you?
Would be an interesting flyer to take on a cheap 1 year "show me" deal...if they didn't already have 2 bottom pairing right shot defensemen on the roster.Canes buyout James Wisniewski - $1m in real salary each of the next 2 seasons, $3.5m against the cap this year and $1m against the cap next year.
I assume Pittsburgh will take a look at him since they do need a right shot bottom pair guyCanes buyout James Wisniewski - $1m in real salary each of the next 2 seasons, $3.5m against the cap this year and $1m against the cap next year.
Chia is gonna Chia. Yikes.Oilers have an offer of 7/$42m to Lucic apparently
LOL

Which is saying a lot considering the last 1-2 years. Their management of assets is putrid. If the Bruins lose out on one of the premier wings after letting Loui go, that will be the biggest fuckup of this front office. That's inexcusable IMO.
Seriously? If the Bruins lose out on one of the premier wings after letting Loui go, that will be the biggest fuckup of this front office. That's inexcusable IMO.
Just the overall asset management. Loui is the best wing on the market and the Bruins let him go for nothing. Given how much cap space they have (and unless they do something remarkably stupid, they'll go into the season with a ton of cap room), not resigning Loui is going to look pretty egregious. He's a perfect fit for the team and is coming off a huge year.Seriously?
EDIT: I assume you mean the way they handled the trade deadline. I do not want them to re-sign Loui.
I don't agree with re-signing him at all. He is looking for a 5 or 6 year deal at around $6m+ per year. Those contracts are the reason they are in the situation they are in. They overpay for aging veteran players, and pay the penalty down the line.Just the overall asset management. Loui is the best wing on the market and the Bruins let him go for nothing. Okposo and Backes are the only other options to replace him and Loui is better than both and younger than Backes. We just let a 30 goal scorer walk away from the team... for nothing. Even if they had to overpay a little for him, so what? They have the cap space and the roster need. I've made the point before, but Loui is the exact player that will age well because of his range on the ice. He'll be a solid overpaid 3rd line winger by the end of the contract most likely, but there's nothing wrong with that.
Cool - let's replace a 30 goal scorer with a kid that scored 8 goals and is unproven at wing. That's the formula for a winning organization.I'd rather give Vatrano top 6 minutes then sign Loui for 6-7 years.
5/30 would be a fair deal for a guy coming off a 30 goal season that gave you excellent defense. I don't get why Loui is so underrated around here. If he gives you 3 more 20-30 goal seasons, you live with the last 2 years of 10-15 goal seasons on the 3rd line, big deal. Also, he'd be very trade-able.I don't agree with re-signing him at all. As for not trading him and getting nothing, I completely agree. They should have traded him for the best offer at the deadline, and not traded for Stempniak and Liles. That was the big mistake, IMO.
I completely agree with your first point. Signing aging players to long term deals would put them right back in the same cap mess in a couple of years.I don't agree with re-signing him at all. At some point you have to realize where you're at as an organization and commit to developing young players.Cool - let's replace a 30 goal scorer with a kid that scored 8 goals and is unproven at wing. That's the formula for a winning organization.
