Last I remember being bummed out at the end of Day Two, when all the Pats added was a guy (Jimmy G) who'd hopefully never play. And I remember having the exact same "goddamned Belichick just wants to prove how smart he is" concerns about a wasted draft.

And then there was the Stork pick in Round 4, which was way more conventional, and I calmed down. A bit.

If they take Clemmings or Tre Jackson here, it'll feel the same. And last year turned out okay.

Anyone wishing to feel better should check out Ben Volin in today's Globe. You're just going to be underwhelmed on day 2 if you're a Pats fan. There are many picks left. It is what it is.

Thanks for the Ben Volin recommendation.

We should realize by now that BB does not fall in love with guys purely on 40 times and how high they can jump.  He is more concerned with football IQ than combine metrics.  I think we can say over the long term that his approach has produced better results than just drafting the best track athlete available.

Expect some more team captains and guys coming off injuries that were previously ranked in Rounds 1 or 2 pre-injury... and a Latvian MMA "project"

Clemmings and, Tyrus Thompson seem like best pass pro OL available per NFL.com.

Maybe keep an eye on Max Garcia -- Florida team captain, hard worker, versatile (started one year at guard, another at center)....though slow (8.18 three cone)

Clemmings has a stress fracture in his foot and teams must have some reason to believe it's pretty serious for him to drop this far.

An OL (no clue who) and either a RB (Ajayi, Langford, Cobb) or a WR (love Rashad Greene) would work here.

Let's just stay away from Florida o-linemen. The last time one of them was good was when the Center's last name was Pouncey.
They have excelled at blocking each other the last two years though.

Seattle got a very good player, but Washington really got a lot out of that trade last night. Seven picks today, and this is a team that can use those picks. Given his approach to FA and the draft, Scot McCloughan is turning a ship that has been going in the same direction for 15 years.

Another binkie of mine is North Dakota State's Kyle Emmanuel.  He is a Rob Ninkovich clone DE.

So SoSH game threads will inexplicably bitch about him on a constant basis no matter how well he does his job?

Within last half hour, NFLN noted Clemmings is off more than a few teams' boards.

That foot injury is in the gray zone. Apparently, they're not even sure it can be operated on

Yeah, this is a circus. Can you say that without being branded a don't support the troops guy?

Belichick going all in on pass rushers.

The better the pass rush is, the better the secondary becomes.

That said, it sounds like Flowers is better against the run than the pass.

Nobody Cares
Hot and steamy things sometimes materialize when Panthers cheerleaders get together.

Love the Flowers highlights, therefore I endorse the pick.

It takes an actual pass rush to replace Revis. I like this, all we do in game threads is complain about lack of a pass rush. Well, here ya go.

They want to be extremely flexible in scheme in the front 7.  These picks are making it very easy to play whatever type of scheme BB and MP want to do.  Really like this pick and the value of where they got Flowers is extremely good.

BB is telling us something: they needed to get more athletic on the front 7 and they have done exactly that between FA and the draft.  Adding Sheard, Brown, Flowers, and Grissom have accomplished that.

He's not much of a pass rusher, according to nfl.com profile

Per Schefter one team was planning to take Collins in the 4th. Changed its mind

Yeah, I guess you're right about Flowers being stronger against the run.

Still I like bolstering the line.

Maybe guard next?
