Anthony Davis, getting so, so paid...

Actually its $145mm over 5yrs.  Smart move by the Pelicans.  He is my odds on favorite for MVP next season.

Brooklyn looks like they are NOT clearing the books and getting under the luxury tax. Prepared to sign Lopez and Young to monster deals. Didn't see that coming.

Aminu to Portland for 4/$30m. That has to put a smile on Jae Crowder's face.

Billy King is not made for defeat. He's also never heard of contract years. But anytime you get a chance to build your team around a soft, slow-footed, no defense walking foot injury risk big like Brook Lopez you've just gotta do it.

I actually don't hate this from a C's perspective. They barely squeaked into the playoffs with this same no-upside roster under the same fortunate circumstances as Boston (key injuries elsewhere + opponents coasting + vets pushing for a payday). This also tells me they are still aspiring to be Isiah's Knicks, which is only good news for us.

The ceiling is no higher than mediocre and the floor is still near-rock bottom for that squad.

Even though they have a funny way of showing it, everything I read said that the top two goals for BKN this summer (in order) were:
1) Re-signing Young and Lopez
And...
2) Getting under the luxury tax
Now these two things really don't go together but apparently they are going to try and sell off Deron, Joe Johnson, and Jarrett Jack. So BKN will still be really bad and probably give us a top 10 pick, King just decided to reshuffle the deck chairs on the Titanic

Yahoo Sources: The Nets have agreements now: Thad Young (4 years, $50M) and Brook Lopez (3 years, $60M). Both deals w/ player option.

Brooklyn has 8 players signed for $90+mm this year (plus Hollis-Jefferson and McCullough draft picks yet to be signed, plus three players with team options).

Best case scenario for Boston is Brooklyn tying up cap space on Brook Lopez while selling off Williams and Johnson. Since they have no incentive to be intentionally terrible, we have to hope they're accidentally terrible, and building the team around Lopez seems like a great way for them to do that. We're one foot injury away from a top five pick or two.

Report: Danny Green agrees to four-year, $45 million deal to remain with Spurs http://dlvr.it/BNhtjK

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA  3m3 minutes ago
After bringing back Danny Green, the Spurs are unloading Splitter's salary to the Hawks. Now, the Spurs go into Aldridge meeting with space.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA  8m8 minutes ago
Lakers didn't make strong impression in Aldridge meeting, sources say. Spurs can close on him. LMA expected to make decision fairly soon.

Bobby Marks ‏@BobbyMarks42  3m3 minutes ago
As @WojYahooNBA reported it looks like Splitter goes into ATL room. Will make it next to impossible to bring both Millsap and Carroll back.

Let's hope this is all professional training regimen weight and not Sully weight.

Danny Green getting that much less than Carroll seems wrong. Too early in Green's career for him to be taking discounts like that.

If San Antonio gets Aldridge they win the offseason. Period.
This is going to be tough for me. I love Aldridge, but I think the gap between him and Splitter is going to be smaller than people expect. Of course, even if I'm right, Splitter can't stay on the court.

So Harris and Robin Lopez are still realistic adds, right?  I still think Trader Danny is going to rear his head before too long.  Guys like Bradley and Thomas are starting to look rather inexpensive.

Is Harris really going to get anywhere close to the max?  If so, I hope it's not from us.  He's an OK player & still young, but I don't see anything exceptional he does.

Especially this year, with the cap set to explode soon, the max really just isn't that much for any quality young player with a chance to keep improving.

"Free agents will come." -Danny Ainge

Isn't step one getting a face-to-face meeting before they come?

He's too tired from making all those promised deals on draft night

so, what contracts can the Celtics acquire with those trade exceptions and Gerald Wallace?
Not much would be my guess. Teams are reluctant to use assets to dump contracts this summer since the cap is going up. Wallace probably is useless except for salary match if we trade picks for a player. The only two exceptions that might be valuable are 12.9 and 7.7 unlikely big enough to take a straight salary dump, but maybe useful in a value for value trade or to jump in as the third team to make a deal work.

Chandler is now a part of the Suns' entourage that is meeting with Aldridge in LA.  There are a bunch of tweets indicating that Aldridge wants to remain a 4 and Chandler is proof (as a 5) that the Suns are on the same page.  The Suns would have to deal Bledsoe or multiple players to make this FA deal work - no cap room.

Oh the Lakers. Invited Kobe to the LMA meeting, because really, it isn't like his complete inability to not be an asshole to potential teammates has ever been a problem before.
In less than shocking news "they didn't really gel".
No real max player is signing there until Kobe is gone, he's just a cancer on that franchise.

Thats a fun theory and all, but Bryant barely spoke at the meeting, the issue is the fact that Jim Buss is an idiot and Byron Scott still thinks it is 1995:

As @Mike_Bresnahan says, Aldridge felt too much of Lakers presentation focused on outside opportunities; wanted clearer, better b-ball focus

Aldridge was floored in a good way by Houston's analytics, on-court projections in their presentation. Not so with the Lakers.

There was no talk of black swans or white swans;) Kobe just said he thought they'd be great together & compared it to the game he & Pau ran

This might be a blessing in disguise for them, as it will force Jeannie to fire her brother and when they suck again next year trigger firing Byron Scott.
