I think Raul Neto will be their PG, not Burke.  Bryce Cotton also looked like a decent 10-15 MPG PG at the end of last year as well.  Lastly, PG is the deepest position in the NBA, so finding a capable veteran at the deadline would not be tough if the Jazz are in the hunt but have a need at that position.
There is a transition period for guys like Neto and no chance the Jazz enter camp with plans for Neto to be the starting PG. If he does eventually start it will be due to Burke failing at the opportunity first and the Jazz tank being on.

The Jazz are gunning for the playoffs. I don't think there's any chance the "tank is going to be on."

You think they are gunning for the playoffs and planning on starting a rookie 2nd round pick from Brazil to lead them? If they are truly doing so they will be making a move to fill this position otherwise they would appear to be content being where they are. If it is the latter and they fall out of the playoff race, and Burke sucks balls, then we could see more of Neto which was my point.

I don't think they'll start Neto--I think the job is Burke's to lose (and incidentally, I  think he'll lose it). At that point, maybe they'll find a veteran at the deadline, maybe they'll play Neto more. I don't know.

But that's immaterial to the larger point, which is that they're going to try and make the playoffs, and Neto seeing minutes does not mean they're tanking. They finished the season strong last year, were the league's best defensive team once they dealt Kanter and gave the job to Gobert, and are definitely trending up, even with the Exum injury.

The Jazz will be right in the mix for the last spot or two in the playoffs with the Pellies, Suns, and Mavericks.  Regardless of the PG, they're good enough in the rest of the spots on the floor to pretty much guarantee it.  As I mentioned, PGs who can capably shepherd an offense are pretty much the easiest thing to find in the NBA.  I mean, Professor Andre Miller has made an entire career out of this.

We used to say "There are two things you can count on in life, the sun rising in the east and T-Mac getting injured." That needs to be updated for the D-Rose Era.

Tying a couple threads together — and knocking wood for SC30, just in case — have any two concurrent young stars risen and fallen as sharply as Rose and Curry in the past 3-4 years? Going into the 2011-12 season, 99.9% of NBA fans would have laughed at the idea of even comparing the two (I would have sheepishly trotted out Curry's superior efficiency and plus-minus numbers when healthy, but felt like a total Warrior fanboy for doing so). Now ... well, people would laugh at the the idea of even comparing the two. While America's Sweetheart (or America's Sweetheart #2, after Riley Curry) continues his MVP / World Champ tour, adorning every billboard, hanging with Colbert and Fallon, playing golf with the POTUS, etc., Rose keeps making his own headlines...

• Rose Says "I Know I'm Great"
• Rose Looking Forward to Free Agency So He Can Get Paid (While Making $100M from the Bulls and Another $200M from Adidas)
• Rose Breaks Face In First Day of Practice
• Rose Says Group Sex Was Consensual

Jeez. It's like ... the anti-Curry.

To be clear: even setting aside the obvious differences in public image / off-court stuff and injury luck, Rose in his so-called MVP season was nowhere near Curry's MVP level (by plus-minus, scoring efficiency, scoring volume, defense, rebounding, or any other measure). But — setting aside the Curry phenomenon, since it's not really fair to anyone — it's really shocking how badly Rose's game and image has crashed and burned from age 22 to age 26. You know it's bad for an A-List NBA superstar when Stephen A. Smith has stopped defending you and your local paper is talking about your "Special Brand of Stupid"...

Shit. Should have gone with the ph instead of the v when I named youngest my son.

Well, he still has Spielberg, Tyler and Van Zandt to aspire to. :)

Vaguely on topic: when Curry went on Colbert's show last week, Colbert was (mock) pissed off at him for replacing him as the #1 "Stephen" entry on google (Hawking got bumped down to #3).

Lamar Odom is fighting for his life after falling into unconsciousness at Dennis Hoff's Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nevada ... TMZ Sports has learned.
Sources at the Love Ranch tell TMZ ... 35-year-old Odom arrived at the Ranch Saturday and was partying with the girls for days.   A source at the Ranch said Lamar was taking an herbal substitute for Viagra.
On Tuesday afternoon, someone went into Odom's room and found him unconscious.  The person rolled the former NBA star over and saw fluid streaming out of his mouth.
An ambulance took Lamar to Pahrump hospital, where doctors intubated him ... an indication he could not breathe on his own.
We're told Lamar is being airlifted from the hospital to Las Vegas for more treatment.

Tristan Thompson ends his holdout and gets 82 million. I'm sure he kept in shape so he wasnt just at home hanging out but players must envy him. You skip all offseason crap, practices, preseason games, media, etc. And the cavs need him so his playing time won't be affected.

Well played, TT.
