Well said. And it is sad. These two really, really miss each other, whether they would ever admit it or not. The sum is greater than the two parts in this instance.
Kind of sad, really.

Agreed they're both average alone. It sucks to be honest. Care to explain what Mike said about the game last night? After, witnessing last nights game I didn't have the heart to turn it on today.I had a chance in the car today to listen to both Fatty and Dog.
Jets/Pats game was a big topic. Similar takes in some ways.

We know who Mike had $$ on...he has spent the first 90 minutes of his show today on the end of the Steelers-chargers game
his point was that the NFL ahs no right to do what they did and it made no sense the way it was done. he also said that 85% of the money on the game was on pittsburgh to coverI'm assuming yoru talking about the overturned touchdown at the end by the Steelers. Did he get clarification on why it was overturned, because for the life of me those looked like legal lateralls. There was a TON of confusion over that call for some reason also.
He makes weekly college and pro picks against the spread every week, so the conflict of interest would be long gone.He needs to stop with this gambling talk. It is giving off a conflict-of-interest vibe with his inside knowledge being in the media.
The yappy second baseman has grown on him. Basically he said that Pedroia is everything thats right with sports. He joked that Pedroia can say anything he wants to Arod now.Any reaction to the yappy 2nd baseman's winning the MVP?

I tune into WFAN today, and there's a longer than usual hiatus before Francesca comes on. When he does, it's clear he's just gobbled something down, because he's smacking his lips and hiding burps. Radio gold.
In the old days with Russo often times coming out of a commercial break it would be Dog who would take a few calls by himself to cover for Francesa who would later waddle into the studio and get up to speed. It was clear to all that Mike had just gotten back from teaching a poor, unsuspecting Astoria Studios toilet a severe lesson it would not soon forget.
That was great radio. Fatman Scoop is the man and Francessa seemed to like him. Told him to call back whenever he wants.Fatman Scoop (former Hot97 DJ) just called Mike to discuss the Plaxico Burress incident. Some classic radio. Pretty sure Francesa said Holla.
According to reports his ratings haven't changed so that's why he has stopped looking for a partner. The funny thing is I have always been a huge Dog fan and in the recent months I have found myself listening to Mike more and more. I think there is still a decent shot they could work together again. Either in 5 years or if Sirius goes out of business. I'm sure Dog in private is miserable about the decision he made. Getting on that show is a joke, he has no callers. No one cares. For a man who was never about money this has to be crushing for him.Completely agree. I've tried Mike alone several times and I just can't get into it.
Not to complain after a 19 year run, but it's just really depressing that one of my favorite things in life is gone forever.
I dunno about that. The funny thing is I have always been a huge Dog fan and in the recent months I have found myself listening to Mike more and more. Yeah, but before he had Russo to interrupt him or to disagree with him. Now he's just blathering on and on to himself.Mike ahs been doing that for years. he ahs one point or value-added comment and repeats it over and over. however, in the past, he filled roughly 3 hours of air-time now he ahs 6.5 hours to fill so it is a lot worse on the listener
Nothing annoys me about MFY fans more than that attitude. What a bunch of horseshit.EDIT: and then a regular moron caller Lisa, "Doesnt he know what an honor and privilege it is to be a Yahhhnkee"
Mike is basically calling out Cashman and in the process poisoning the water for CC. "Who wouldn't want to live in New York ?" Francesa asks his listeners. I wish his producer had cut to California Dreaming by the Mamas and Papas.Nothing annoys me about MFY fans more than that attitude. What a bunch of horseshit.
He's always a dick to Sweeney, but when Sweeney goes and says that Johan was a greater durability risk than a 300 pound pitcher with 1700 major league innings on his arm he kind of walks into it.I don't recall his position last year when Santana was on the trade block, but he's criticizing Cashman for not trading Hughes & Co. for him last year, and he's going after CC way too strong this year to make up for the mistake. I think Mike was for trading the kids, and I agree with him 100% on it being a mistake not to get Santana.
Fun to listen to, that's for sure. Especially with Tokyo Sweeney being in usual Yankee sympathizer mode.
To be fair, some main board posters had the same attitude re: Giles and his desire to stay in SD instead of coming to Boston this year. I thought it was horseshit there too, but Sox fans are not immune from the mindset.Nothing annoys me about MFY fans more than that attitude. What a bunch of horseshit.
Oh I agree. It's just more pronounced with the 26 rings crowd but they're not necessarily the only ones.To be fair, some main board posters had the same attitude re: Giles and his desire to stay in SD instead of coming to Boston this year. I thought it was horseshit there too, but Sox fans are not immune from the mindset.
Carl Pavano's agent, Tom O'Connell, said the Red Sox are among a few teams interested in his client.
Pavano spent some time in Boston's farm system earlier in his career. He went 4-2 with a 5.77 ERA in seven starts last season with the Yankees and hasn't pitched a full season since 2004, which should make him a cheap grab.
sure, but come on, you KNOW there as a HUGE difference. I took the main board remarks as more "how could giles not want to go to a winning team, that is pretty much guaranteed contending every year", instead of "the magic of the pinstripes and mystique of the shitty ballpark and the cemetary in left field is the make up magical things such as integrity and honor! OH TO DON THE PINSTRIPES IS AUTOMATIC SANCTITY!"To be fair, some main board posters had the same attitude re: Giles and his desire to stay in SD instead of coming to Boston this year. I thought it was horseshit there too, but Sox fans are not immune from the mindset.
I'd love to be a fly on the wall when Mike negotiates his contract with his employer.Should be an interesting show today with Sabathia signing less than 24 hours after Mike and most of his callers told CC to go bleep himself.

Details?I haven to listened to the new show before but Mike Francessa is embarassing himself today.
Is he calling for Sabathia to go to the bullpen yet?He said Sabathia and Wang are "equals."
Just wait until CC pumps his fist.Is he calling for Sabathia to go to the bullpen yet?
I can't believe he is defending Wang the way he is. His main argument is "OMG HE WON 19 GAMEZZZ". Every big game he shrinks up like a prune and last 4 IP. Mike's lack of quality baseball knowledge is really showing today. He said Sabathia and Wang are "equals."
I think you're misreading Mike's point of view. From all the times I've listened to him I'm pretty confident Mike has a good understanding of baseball, and knows perfectly well that Sabathia is better than Wang. Mike's more agnostic on Blyleven than me, and Mike uses wins and RBIs more than I would like. But he understands baseball.I can't believe he is defending Wang the way he is. His main argument is "OMG HE WON 19 GAMEZZZ". Every big game he shrinks up like a prune and last 4 IP. Mike's lack of quality baseball knowledge is really showing today.

In the post season, Wang is 1-3 with a 7.58 ERA. Sabathia is 2-3 with a 7.92 ERA. I'd say they're about equal!I can't believe he is defending Wang the way he is. His main argument is "OMG HE WON 19 GAMEZZZ". Every big game he shrinks up like a prune and last 4 IP.
Probably belongs in Russo's thread, but Dog was predictably defiant during his discussion of Sabathia.I don't disagree with Mike's rant about C.C., but did anybody listen to the whole thing? To me the only question is whether that rant was 1) the most repetitious rant in the history of the show, or 2) the most repetitious rant made by any human being in any conceivable format in the history of mankind.
God do I miss Chris Russo.
