LT is a really cool (and crazy) dude. I don't think you're supposed to repeatedly say 'shit' on WFAN haha. It must be nice to play 18 rounds of golf everyday though. So far the Legends shows have been good.

I wish someone, just once, would ask LT ifhe thought he could still be a good player if he wasn't coked out every game

haven't heard Lt's yet, but Darryl Strawberry's time in the studio yesterday was great stuff. A little too cliched concerning the current Mets, but I like the 86 Mets and am always up for some reminiscing about them.
Yeah, that was decent.
Straw and LT are the poster children for the 1980's NYC coke scene so naturally we go zero questions about that since Mike didn't want to make them look "bad," but those are the kinds of things I wanted to hear about and judging by past interviews, LT & Straw are very open to talking about their past indiscretions. Both interviews were interesting on some levels, boring on most others. Too much golf talk, too. I'd rather hear the coke and whore stories from the 80's than how their golf games are today.

Francesa has shown more anger over the Jets and Mangini's coaching then he has for anything in awhile...how much is legit vs. good show is debatable...threw a pen...banged the desk...

He seemed legitimately hot. Perhaps, he lost a few bucks...

Bob Ryan on with Chris Russo right now...says Red Sox will now overpay for Derek Lowe now that they've lost Teixeira...

Wow, he has totally discounted the Patriots.

"They aren't that good anymore."

It's totally clear he has not watched many of their games, and is basing his opinion based on early season impressions.

And for the last hour he's been defending the Yankee spending habits and how it doesn't put a damper on competitive fairness in baseball... "How does the Teixeira signing affect the Pirates?"

Ohhhhhh Mike, the MFY Kool Aid must taste especially sweet this afternoon.

"the Brewers owner should stop whining, he should've bought the Yankees"...unbelievable...
:rolling:

I know! God this is just awful. Wish the Dog was there to curb this nonsense because clearly the callers are not up to the verbal challenge. It's like a stampeding elephant at this point.

Super Bowl trivia is back starting at 2pm with a new Marquis. No idea as to who it is. Can't wait to waste the next 5 afternoons at work trying to call in and never get through....

It's Ottis Anderson.

This is great stuff. I love it when they go to the next caller without even telling the guy he was wrong.
The super bowl contest is awful in every sense of the word. How I miss the good old days, Dog as the Marquis used to be priceless, while Otis couldn't be anymore boring. Can Sirius just go out of business.

edit- It's getting a little better due too some inept callers.

Agreed, this is terrible. Mike has to translate and repeat the question every time for him. As a Giants fan I love OJ, but c'mon at least get Benigno in there or even Sal. Someone with some fire. This is 100x worse than what it used to be.

i listened to both "Marquis" events today...Francesa's was horrible...Russo's was fantastic...Russo was killing callers who got easy ones wrong...

Has anyone here EVER got through to this contest? I have tried year after year on a multi line phone at the office dialing both the contest line and the regular 718-937-6666 line with absolutely no luck.

Kind of sad that the thread for Russo's show isn't even on the first page of the media forum anymore. I love Dog more than anyone but I am not willing to pay for Sirius when I can't listen at work. I think it's fair to say that he may have lost his relevance since leaving the FAN. Too bad.

I only caught a bit of it, but Mike sounded like his dog died today talking about the Torre book. Like his soul was crushed.
If anyone gets audio of that, i'd love to hear the full version.

Mike spouting some revisionist history this afternoon. He referenced a passage from Torre's new book where Torre said many of the Yankee players felt they had no shot in game 7 of the 2004 ALCS because Kevin Brown was starting. Mike commented that "I knew...heck everyone knew" the Yankees had no shot in that game.

I remember Mike's rant on 10/20/04. Doggy was all over him about the Red Sox finishing off the NYY in Yankee Stadium, teasing Mike about how it would be the worst choke in sport's history. Mike in his most condescending tone said something to the effect that the Red Sox had no shot "not tonight, not in this building, not on this day" (Mickey Mantle's birthday). I guess Torre's tell all book has Mike a little off balance.

His show this week has been a complete and utter disaster. He's awful period he reading the Joe Torre book on air on a Tuesday of Super Bowl week. I love both of these guys, but with each passing show it's completely obvious that they are inept alone. I don't care what the ratings say, any person who has listened to the show will tell you how far it has fallen. But it's ok Mike keep believing you don't need a partner.

As Sid Rosenberg mentioned on Imus this morning, Mike is doing his show from the Hyatt this week, which is over a mile away from the stadium. It was apparently his decision to stay away from "Radio Row" this year. It has noticeably affected his guest list. I would imagine that Russo is broadcasting from Radio Row, but I'm not sure. Could Mike's request to stay away have anything to do with him avoiding the drama of being in the same place as Russo? Or is it just "Mike being Mike" and wanting his own space with less crowds?

He said it would be easier to get guest in the show, if they stayed at the Hyatt . As far as with him and Russo they talked on Monday and have been speaking to each other at events, so that not it. It's definitely "Mike being Mike" hes to BIG to be on radio row.

Mike is fairly worked up stating that the Red Sox started the whole 'Nation' thing. No matter how many Steeler fans call and claim they had it first. It's so stupid but entertaining. Honestly think I heard JT the Brick use it for 'Raider' nation first but maybe that was after Sox started it.
