The way this has all played out so incredibly publicly has to make it that much harder for them to get someone in the end. Who wants to be the one to think they know better than all these smart executives who won't even do an interview?

BobbyV is available.
It's even worse than just those two, Alderson's son is an assistant GM.I haven't followed this modern Geek tragedy of Cohen's search for a GM, but are work conditions under Cohen and Alderson so onerous as to scare away so many name candidates? Is it assumed that Alderson will still call the baseball op shots while Cohen 2nd guesses the GM on Twitter?
Maybe he meant the pinochle of sport....The Mets are the pinnacle of the sport?
Dan Duquette? Ned Colletti? Doug Melvin? Seems like at some point the Mets need to just make a hire and instead of reaching for the stars, find someone qualified who just wants a job and to get back into the game. At least get someone who will take an interviewThe way this has all played out so incredibly publicly has to make it that much harder for them to get someone in the end. On behalf of SoSH, we appreciate the offer but the fit just isn’t right for us at this time.I can GM for the Mets at this point. My FO can be SoSH. Probably a fun social experiment of running a billion dollar franchise off a random collection of baseball enthusiasts thoughts.
Guess Ill go ask Bar StoolOn behalf of SoSH, we appreciate the offer but the fit just isn’t right for us at this time.

NY Mets: Somebody will take our job eventually.Somebody will take that job eventually as the Mets work down their list, because money, power, and holyshitIcantbelieveIcouldrunateam.
This is exactly who I was thinking, too. He showed with the Orioles that he’s still got a decent fastball, and he seems not to care what anyone thinks about him—a prerequisite, I’d imagine, for accepting a job that’s already been rejected by half the league.Dan Duquette?
I’d argue that the Mets have none of the cachet of the Knicks, Notre Dame or Canadiens. If you were making a pros and cons list for the Mets job, the reasons under the cons side would be a mile long. But Mike Puma’s “pinnacle of sports” quote does touch on the ultimate allure of the job. It’s the same as the Knicks or Notre Dame or Canadiens. If you’re the guy (or woman) who ends up being the one to turn the team around and win championships, you’re a God.

It wouldn't be an off-season without Heyman coming forward with news of a 'mystery candidate', would it?This guy’s been out of baseball for seven years:

The Fibonilla Sequence2031 is the next Mets World Series appearance. Waited 13 years - '73-'86, then 14 - '86-'00, then 15 - '00-'15. 16 years makes it '31.
This is tremendous work and deserves to be recognized not only today but annually for 30 years. The Fibonilla Sequence
Honestly, getting rejected by someone who’s a practicing lawyer - the profession with the highest rates of alcoholism and suicide - where everyone is looking for exit opportunities, would be the most embarrassing no of all. This guy’s been out of baseball for seven years:

The fact that it’s a warm body willing to actually take the job pushes him closer to the goal line
I didn’t know any of the bold part and it’s… I don’t want to run afoul of the rules here, so I’ll simply point it out and allow readers to draw your own conclusions.[Cromie] left baseball four years ago to pursue a career in corporate law at Jones Day, one of the country’s largest firms. That name might ring a bell—the firm represented former president Donald Trump during both the 2016 and 2020 election campaigns, and the deputy chief of staff to former New Jersey governor Chris Christie in the Bridgegate case. It’s unlikely that Cromie, working in mergers and acquisitions, would’ve been involved in those cases, but the Christie link is at the very least an interesting coincidence. Christie serves on the Mets’ board of directors, and his son is the Mets’ international scouting coordinator. Cohen was also a major contributor to Christie’s ill-fated 2016 presidential bid, and he’s reportedly been consulting Christie on whom to hire to run the Mets.

Bang-up job here, fellas.I'd conclude that it smacks of Cromieism.
Jones Day has over 2500 lawyers and Cromie is an associate in the Pittsburg office. It’s highly unlikely that he would have any association with Christie.Wait, is this news to anyone besides me?

Did we know that Christie was on the Mets’ board and helping with their search?Jones Day has over 2500 lawyers and Cromie is an associate in the Pittsburg office. It’s highly unlikely that he would have any association with Christie.
I didn't know he had any involvement with the Mets and it feels kind of weird at first that a politician would end up on a sports team board, but if you ever want to build, renovate, or expand anything, having an ex-pol in pocket always helps. It's not like they'd let him scout for players or front office peo...oh.Did we know that Christie was on the Mets’ board and helping with their search?
That was mentioned on one of the baseball podcasts, maybe Effectively Wild.Did we know that Christie was on the Mets’ board and helping with their search?
Now that that’s over…
