I think your eyes deceive you. Called strikes are open circles, balls are solid circles, fouls are circles with a dot in the center. Ortiz saw six pitches: Foul, ball, ball, ball, called strike, called strike, and those are all shown in the chart.Do my eyes deceive or does this have the two Ortiz pitches noted as balls?
(Edited to add -- awesome work, regardless!)
Yes, the pitch to Ramirez looks like it was right on the corner of the de facto strike zone.Am I reading that incorrectly, or does your graph exonerate Kulpa for Ramirez's AB in the 8th?
Remy specifically mentioned Larry Barnett (as if we needed another reason to hate him).On the NESN broadcast last night Remy related a story from his playing days where , after saying bad things to an umpire in the previous game he was warned by the Umps the next day that they were out to get him - which subsequently proved to be the case.
He then went on the say Kulpa's horrible strike 3 call was the same thing - namely umpire vindictiveness (from being shown up the previous call).
It's absolutely awesome. I'm assuming he was wrongly tossed by Kulpa. I say wrongly because a hardy fuck you screamed at Ron Kulpa should be rewarded.that Tito gif may be the best thing ever in the history of the intertubes.
