Starts with Luton vs Spurs

The first 15 minutes Spurs dominated with three or four gilt edges chances. Second 15 much more balanced as Luton found their legs.

Spurs , once again demonstrating their skill at drawing bogus yellow cards - now at two.

You don’t see a second yellow for simulation very often but that was so blatant it put the referee in a tough spot. Just a very dumb play by Bissouma.

His first yellow was his fifth so does he miss the next two matches?

This now is classified as a red so he is suspended for that for one game and goes back to having 4 yellow cards. His next yellow will be a suspension.

and Maddison has to be the best value signing of the offseason.

He wasn't nearly as annoying as I had expected.
He was fine. Wearing a hat was annoying, but he did well. Curious why one of the football - college or NFL - studio shows haven’t shoveled enough money at him.

Oh Jesus Christ. Chris Basham for Sheffield completely fucked his plant-foot ankle after trying to cross a ball. Avoid that replay.

I don’t even know where to start with that Brentford goal. What a multiple level shit show by Manchester United.

United look checked out. No one is closing down and everyone is walking about in the back. This team is mailing it in right now.

Apparently, that is the first time Everton have scored two at home in a year.
Home form has been poor. Last two away games. Brentford and Villa (cup, but both sides played close to a starting XI) Toffees win by a combined 5-2 and it could have been much more, near total domination in two tough parks for visitors. Everton fans always travel well and they took over the games.

At home they’re just scared of making a mistake. Too tight. I felt it at the game I was at in August vs Wolves, one of 4 this season where they dominated play, dominated xG but fluffed their chances and gave away crap goals, mostly on set pieces. Call it a lack of composure, you could almost feel the “oh shit” ripple through the crowd and the team in the pitch when something bad happened.

Today they’ve shown the exact same vulnerability on free kicks that Luton exploited (Mykolenko failing to get out to the wide attacker) and Tavernier had had a little too much freedom in the middle of the park, but their attacking play has looked good. Both goals were well taken, calmly struck.

Looks to be safe now. Dominating.

Is Goal Rush like watching a flip book for anyone else? The frame rate must be in low single digits.

Very productive game from Sterling today, scored one, drew a pen, set up a third with the run/hockey assist, and even caused the own goal from a cross into a dangerous position. He seems like he’s either playing great or is totally off his game, with little middle ground.

Fulham with a weird second, to spare Robinson the embarrassment of a tying own goal for the lowly Blades.

whoever had "both goalkeepers in the Genoa-Milan match get sent off in stoppage time", please report to the window to collect your winnings.

Unbelievable ending. Olivier Giroud had to finish the game as the Milan GK and even made a save to seal a chaotic 1-0 win. Insane.

Deep into stoppage time:
  • Milan GK is given a straight red after VAR review for crunching a Genoa striker. Milan had already used all five subs.
  • Giroud takes Maignan’s jersey.
  • The ensuing Genoa free kick hits the bar and eventually goes out for a corner.
  • Genoa’s keeper comes up, so a goal keeper was now trying to score on a striker.
  • Musah clears the corner sending Leao off 1 v 1 against a Genoa defender (and no keeper in net), but the referee inexplicably blows the whistle to give the Genoa keeper his second yellow for fouling Musah.
  • Genoa gets a bit of a break in on Giroud who ends up punching the ball away from the attacker with his eyes closed.

  • All of this after Pulisic’s goal possibly should have been called off for a handball.

There is one angle where it does appear to hit his hand before his upper arm.

Separately Pioli said after the game that CP volunteered to take over at GK but that he’s “too small”.

Now how is that not a candidate for a card? A horse collar tackle for a man past the goalie?

Salah converts for the lead.

it wasn’t even a yellow?
