The Pro-Cleveland argument is that Lebron James is a physical freak who the refs protect.
It's the playoffs; if you don't like physical contact, watch tennis or something. I'm as annoyed as anyone by the star system, but that will be a wash at worst for the Warriors.

The pro-Cleveland argument is that, with all due respect to the two-time reigning MVP, the Cavs will have the best player on the floor. Maybe Curry will be lights-out from behind the arc, or maybe he won't be; does anyone doubt that LBJ will be unstoppable?

The Dubs are deservedly favored, but it's going to be a hell of a series.

I have serious doubts about Lebron being unstoppable. Iguodala has shown the ability to keep him in check. More importantly, Lebron's jumper has been horrific for a while now and I expect they'll play off him, forcing him to make shots from outside at a decent clip.

I guess the point I was making wasn't clear enough. I don't think it will be a wash for the Warriors because Lebron James is nearly impossible to guard if you can play him a little physical. With the way they call him he is going to be a monster--which is basically what you just said. I just think the shitty NBA ref star system makes him even tougher. I am certain DeJesus is going to lose his mind several times in this series because of this stuff.

Fwiw, I love physical contact. I hope you enjoyed the machismo tennis comment but it's not relevant. The problem is that nobody can body Lebron but he can body anyone he wants. The NBA is what it is so I don't expect it to change but he alone, as you said, means CLE has a decent chance.

Agreed. I would sag off LeBron until he proves he can consistently knock down perimeter shots.

If you think last year's Finals were an example of keeping LeBron in check, we'll have to agree to disagree.

You're underestimating how hard this is to do in a playoff game where the refs are liberally allowing physical contact.

That doesn't mean he won't get into the paint. But it's not hard to take a step closer to the paint.

Cleveland is going to score a lot of points in this series. It won't matter, because the Warriors are going to score more.

Erving off to a bad start on both ends of the floor. (Even though the refs missed that OOB call.)

LBJ too unselfish in the early going.

That's two questionable touch fouls on CLE.

Cleveland just don't have the personnel to defend GS. They literally just have to pray for them to miss open 3s

So much more open space for GSW to operate in as compared to facing OKC.
Its amazing the difference. Once again Donovan did a fantastic job with his defense but he had a lot to work with defensively in Roberson, Adams, Ibaka and Durant. I am not sure Lue has the defensive mindset but even if he does, he really doesn't have the same quality of pieces.

Few quick things

-Curry has no shot of staying in front of Irving
-Cavs are trying to switch as much as they can. Hasn't been nearly as good as OKC but I think they've done ok on Curry so far
-JR on Thompson is going to be an issue for the Cavs, especially in transition

If this were being officiated like a normal regular season NBA game, the Warriors would have been called for about 8 fouls in that quarter by my count. They had one foul total. The Cavs would have been called for a few more than they were too, but with the way Lebron and Irving are attacking the hoop, and getting contested, it's an odd sight to not once see them get to the line. When Thompson went up for the dunk, and Green "blocked" it, sure looked like he got killed on the body, if not the arms. Almost every replay they show of a score has a foul that could have been called. I think this hurts the Cavs more than it hurts GSW. The Cavs, and in particular, Lebron getting to the line is a big part of their offensive.

Feels like one of those games that will be semi-close but where I never feel like Cleveland has a shot

Both teams can and will score. But the pace and the space are favourable to GS... I just don't think Cleveland can score with them in full flight.

I can't believe Lebron didn't get fouled once in that melee down at the rim, that ended in a jump ball after about 3 shot attempts and rebounds.

Wow, Cleveland cannot get a call down at the rim. And I think Lue has gone a bit too long with Irving on the bench. Taking a big risk of letting this get out of hand.

Hey, there's one on Lebron. Going to the line.
