I got asked to leave the bar after quietly arguing with a Penn state fan so that’s fun. I was advocating or FAU over Alabama. He said Ohio state is 2nd best in football.
Dude FAU was 10th in the AAC. Unless you’re doing the thing on fanbase attractiveness upthread

At least 2 teams and fanbases were going to be outraged no matter the decision. This one seems to be the least horrible from a competitive standpoint for the final 4 given all of the available options.

If Michigan and Washington lose and FSU beats Georgia then I declare the Seminoles the National Champions.

The regular season basically doesn't matter. Don't schedule OOC either.
Texas is in because they beat Bama, so I disagree OOC games aren’t important.
And Bama got in despite losing that big nonconference game. I think this year’s results are anomalous, but if you want to draw broader lessons, they would tell you that scheduling big-time OOC opponents is a good move.

I agree. Despite all of the committee talking points, if Georgia wins FSU would have been in. The Committee was not keeping the SEC winner out, period. However, they were forced to put Texas in once Bama won.

It's only sport, and amateur sport at that, but this decision is a travesty. I really can't see how this can be justified. It should have nothing to do with the QB injury, or any injury. It doesn't matter if FSU gets killed in the semifinal game. By all pre-existing rules, they simply earned the right to be there. So let them play. Of course there are 1-loss teams that feel they deserve to be in, but are left out. This happens every year. But leaving out an undefeated team from a top conference, after scheduling a tough non-conference opponent in September, ostensibly just to avoid such debates, flaunts the principles of fair play and of sport in general.
I'm proud of FSU, and disgusted but not surprised at the power brokers of college football.

Edit: that should read Travisty, amirite?

FSU had the 55th toughest strength of schedule -- Texas had the first and Bama had the fifth.

Georgia apparently opened as a 13 point favorite over FSU...

Bowl games can be fluky tho.

I don't know what SOS means when you are talking about college football. Playing 12 games against Tulane is obviously a stronger SOS than playing 12 games against Northwestern, but any of these very top teams could probably go 12-0 either way.

Who did FSU beat? LSU, Duke, and Louisville? LOL.

If FSU had played Texas's or Bama's schedule, they would have had a loss or two. Hard to cry for them.

There is one word in this post that is a total lie.

Again, who'd they beat?

And guess what? They're not even fifth, Georgia is.
My argument is that it doesn't matter exactly who they beat, it's that they beat all of them. They are in the ACC, which isn't a mid-major. They should be in on merit, like the other 2 undefeated teams. As soon as we look at schedule strength, or injuries, or recent play, we are missing the point.

And my point is that Texas, Bama, and a line of other teams would have gone undefeated against the same schedule. Their big wins were against Louisville, LSU, and Duke. I don't have my eyeglasses on -- we talking in basketball? It's not a super impressive 13-0. Jeez, they should have lost to Clemson and they almost lost to Boston College. Boston Awful College.

I feel for FSU, which I can't believe I'm saying because I can't stand them. But they have a point. They beat everyone they played. If you're not judging it on W's and L's then it's figure skating or diving or half-pipe.
