Texas is in because they beat Bama, so I disagree OOC games aren’t important.
The SEC has proven that scheduling OOC can only be a detriment. They way to get in is to beat up on as many FCS schools as you can. That way every team in the league has a good record and is a “quality loss”.

Just say the SEC paid more to justify it rather than this sham explanation

LSU definitely shouldn’t have scheduled FSU

Apples and oranges. The NFL has a rational system for picking playoff teams; the Committee is looking for the best four teams on a week-over-week basis, with the final ranking being conclusive.
So Georgia/Washington on a neutral field has Washington as the favorite?

There’s absolutely zero chance they do this to an undefeated SEC team. They’d say it was a huge achievement to win with a third string QB and defense.

Well guys, 15 minutes until a Georgia team wins this time and fucks up my day.

I always say this about college football: Game day is the absolute best, every other day is the absolute worst.

Honestly this whole thing just proves that the 4-team format sucks, and expansion coming next year is huge.
The average semifinal margin of victory is like 20 points so this year is an anomaly more than proving 8 teams should get in. There was no truly dominant team this year.

So Georgia/Washington on a neutral field has Washington as the favorite?
I have no idea; I was referring to picking the final four in general, and I made no representation that the committee got it "right." But proclamations that "the regular season makes no difference" or arguing about margins of victory over various opponents earlier in the season are nonsensical. The impact of those close wins/loses has already been baked into the rankings on a week-over-week basis, and the regular season has brought us to the point where we have a handful of teams that can all make a very good case for being in. The arguments are heated because the margins between the teams are pretty small vis a vis the rest of the field.

Along those lines, I also don't get why this is some monumental dis to the ACC; it has nothing to do with the strength of the conference. FSU is obviously in if Travis is healthy, but he's not, and the committee has not unreasonably decided that FSU can't hang with the other participants given that reality.

Let’s just have FSU beat the Dawgs and hang a banner, fuck it.
If FSU plays Georgia in a bowl game and beats them, and then one of Texas or Bama wins the playoff, FSU absolutely should “claim” to be the real national champion at 14-0, with out of conference wins over LSU and Georgia.

The idea that "Alabama is playing the best football right now" is laughable to me. Two weeks ago it took a miracle to beat a team that just got smoked by New Mexico State. But yeah sure let's put them in over an undefeated FSU

The selection committee playing god and deciding that FSU's injuries mean that it should be excluded is a poor look, and makes scrapping the entire system appealing to some people. Glad FSU's AD came out swinging, even if it has zero impact.

I don't think that is true given the history of the committee. FSU was out no matter what. Travis was a convenient excuse.

Also, this will be the third year in a row that the ACC will officiate the national championship game.

Expect:
Fiesta Ohio State v Oklahoma
Orange FSU v Liberty/SMU
Peach Georgia v Penn State
Cotton Missouri v Oregon

Want:
Easy opponents for FSU and Georgia or at least them NOT playing each other

Actually that makes sense, the committee wants to get FSU blasted so their stupid decision is “justified”

Wait, you're arguing that FSU is out if they had Travis and went undefeated?
I believe this. The argument would shift to SOS or some other metric. FSU beat the third or fourth best SEC school (and probable Heisman Trophy winner) by multiple scores. Also beat the SEC's best non-conf win opponent (Louisville) with their third string QB.

Data points in CFB are so few but I don't see a ton of evidence of the SEC being the best conference by any considerable margin.

Really? Because UGA playing in a non championship “who cares” bowl would solve anything? I wouldn’t be shocked if Brock Bowers doesn’t even play.

I’m not saying they’d be the national champ. Just that they should claim it.

After reviewing how GA did against GT, SC, Vandy and Auburn too, I don’t even feel bad for them, being a 1 seed going into final weekend and missing out CFP

I had thought they were better

I got asked to leave the bar after quietly arguing with a Penn state fan so that’s fun. I was advocating or FSU over Alabama. He said Ohio state is 2nd best in football.
