I was watching the Bobby Orr goal just now. Flying through the air, victorious, triumphant. So glorious. Then I watched Nathan Horton's goal against Montreal. Then Bergeron's against Toronto. So beautiful. So difficult. But in each of those, the Bruins fought. They were not fragile. They steeled themselves against the bullshit, blocked their minds from doubt, and went out there and took it from them.

That is how this needs to be. They must go out there and take it from them. Be the bully. Take their lunch money. Spit in their fucking faces after to let them know you ripped it from their still beating hearts. They will not roll over. They will fight. You must stare them in the eyes and rip their fucking throats out.

You have balls. I have seen them. Big brass steel ones that let you raise the most glorious of trophies. Go out there tonight and leave it all out there. Show us the big brass balls that made you glorious victors. I still believe, despite the bullshit. This is not last year. It's not over.

Do not nancy. Hold firm. We have life yet. I believe they can. I know they can.

Just win.

The funny thing is, lately, it's the team that needs to be told not to nancy it up instead of we, the fans. Hell, I still think this team makes the playoffs if they win tonight. But this time, they have to want it bad enough. No more trying to create positivity and light in a dark, gloomy room and lamenting that to the press. No more moral victories. Just hit the ice and dye it red with the blood of Detroit.

So here's a random thought.
Tie game, time running out. Do you pull Tuukka?
Tie game, time running out in OT. Do you pull Tuukka?

I have vague memories of the Pens doing this back in the late 80s where an OT won did them no good so they pulled the goalie in a tie game. I want to say the coach had no idea about this and the players were frantically trying to get his attention to pull the goalie.

ha, found it - with video of the goal Mario scored to win it

I mentioned earlier the complicated playoff scenario. A tie would have been good enough for the Penguins if the Devils lost both of their last two games. About half way through the overtime against the Capitals, the Capital Centre posted the Devils had just won 5-2 on the scoreboard. This prompted several Penguins players to start telling coach Creamer on the bench that they need to pull the goaltender to try to win the game. Creamer knew from his earlier notes that a tie could be good enough but was not taking into consideration that the Devils just won.

With around two minutes left a shouting match ensued between Creamer and several players on the bench. Creamer then got into a heated exchange with Lemieux in French that til this day, everyone assumes that they did finally agree to pull the goaltender.

Why would you pull Tuukka in either case since you can still beat PHI for a playoff spot, not to mention an OT/SO win gives you an outside shot of overtaking DET for 3rd depending on Saturday's outcome. Saturday is the day for panic, today is the day for points.
No points tonight and you can trot out the fat lady for all intents and purposes.

So 7th player award tonight. While Marchand will win I don't think he should qualify. That said has there ever been a year with less worthy candidates than this year?
Who has gone above and beyond that isn't a top line player?

Two months ago, I would have said Spooner in a landslide. But I feel like he has been really bad lately.

Talbot in for Hayes. Which tells you all you need to know about how the season has gone I suppose.

Talbot is needed for the shootout.

Or he's centering the 3rd line

Marchand - Bergeron - Stempniak
Spooner - Krejci - Eriksson
Beleskey - Talbot - Pastrnak
Vatrano - Acciari - Ferraro

It took me more than 30 minutes to get from the Seaport to North Station, so missed the 6:20 train and I'm sitting here watching everyone go in while I wait for the 7:20. GoddamneverythingbutespeciallytheWings.

Vatrano might win the 7th Man. He has played roughly 1/2 the season and very few people expected him to play with the team this year.

I actually think Marchand deserves it because no one expected this type of goal scoring. Vatrano would be my runner up.

I am ready.

Also, this Brian Fallon album gets better every time I listen to it. Which is like 3 times a day.
That Yeti is so good. You should probably drink all of that tonight, for luck.

That is just an amazing pass by Liles. Great vision.
