Does this mean it's Maye Daye?
NOT THIS ONE:
Mayday is an emergency procedure word used internationally as a distress signal in voice-procedure radio communications. It is used to signal a life-threatening emergency primarily by aviators and mariners, but in some countries local organizations such as firefighters, police forces, and transportation organizations also use the term. NOR THIS ONE, B/C NO POLITICS IN GAME THREADS:

In 1889 an international federation of socialist groups and trade unions designated May 1 as a day in support of workers, in commemoration of the Haymarket Riot in Chicago (1886).
MAYBE THIS ONE?

GUENEVERE:
Tra la! It's May!
The lusty month of May!
That lovely month when ev'ryone goes
Blissfully astray.
Tra la! It's here!
That shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts
Merrily appear!
It's May! It's May!
That gorgeous holiday
When ev'ry maiden prays that her lad
Will be a cad!
It's mad! It's gay!
A libelous display!
Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes,
Ev'ryone breaks.
Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes
The lusty month of May!

That's a dark turn.....
One of my all time favorite movies. I haven't seen it in years but it just played at a local theater and apparently over the past 15 or so years it's become a Cosplay movie. Half the place was filled up with dressed up/half dressed fans acting and singing along. Was a bit of fun.

May 1 has also been dubbed National High Potassium Awareness day, which I only know because it was running at the bottom of MLBN:
https://aakp.org/programs-and-events/national-high-potassium-awareness-day/This is apparently important to diabetics and those with diminished kidney function.
The only other thing I learned is that the Sox and Tigers are currently tied for the final AL Wild Card spot at the moment.

One of the worst movies ever made, Plan 9 from Outer Space, is about to come on TCM. I only mention it b/c it's narrated by The Amazing Criswell, mentioned in other gamethreads.

I think anything by Ed Wood gets an automatic exemption from "worst" lists.
Besides, Plan 9 has the posthumous Bela Lugosi.

So many guys coming and going with all these injuries. How many will qualify for the World Series Rings? Perhaps management will just foot the bill and give everybody who was on the MLB roster during the 2024 season a WS ring!

It’s pretty late in the day for no lineup announcement yet. I wonder what the delay is this time? Can’t be good.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
They did just acquire three new players today -- though may be unlikely any of them will make it to Fenway in time.
Bailey's on the 40 and is going to AAA.
Short's not on the 40 and is coming from wherever he lives. (He's been DFA'd for 5 days now.) Twitter says the plan is for him to start tomorrow (Chris Cotillo.)
Smith is still pending a physical and probably won't be added till tomorrow.

So. . .

I’m guessing they are seeing if Cooper can go, which will determine 1B/3B/DH for tonight

I know Abreu/Refsnyder aren't bad fielders, but O'Neill seems like an odd choice for DH given his two gold gloves -- is he maybe still feeling the concussion a bit?

maybe that or maybe Cora knows how important he is to the lineup right now and also how injury prone he has been. With a day game tmrw, it probably makes sense.
