OK, one more win and I will go back to the correct English spelling for the month (Maye, of course). But, we’ll have to win a game started by the Giants best pitcher, who is named after an airport. From another quarterback, LFG!

I wish NESN would invite Jonny Miller into the booth for an inning. I used to have mlb radio and would listen to him while I picked blueberries.
Geaux, Sox! Hope the injured guys are mending and that Masa is back soon.

Blueberries already? Picked my last Navel oranges, still have some not as good Valencia, and then it’s wait for peaches.

Miller was an announcer for the Red Sox in 80-82, his Wiki says. Would be very cool if they could bring him over to the Sox booth for an inning.

I hope so. Yoshida is questionable though.... likely Refsnyder there if he's not. Just getting Valdez and Dalbec out of the lineup looks to be a big improvement.

I wonder if Dalbec's defense has improved enough that he can be a Minky-type late inning defensive sub, occasional starter against lefties? Even though he's stinks against them too, I'd at least be willing to continue to check to see if there's still something there while he's on the team

This is going to be a very challenging game tonight, with the Amazing Criswell facing Logan Webb, who currently has a 19-inning scoreless streak going.
Not an ideal starting pitcher matchup for us.

NO! We don't even have flowers on the blueberry bushes yet. I was referring to previous years, hence the phrase "used to have."
I didn't even know about his announcing for the Sox, as I didn't become a baseball fan until Pedro.

Series 10: GIANTS vs SOX

Despite a bad broadcast on ESPN -
that made me shout ‘Don’t Speak” as if I were Gwen –
the Red Sox took 2 from the Cubs in our den.
(We were like Cocaine Bear to their Gentle Ben.)
We’ve plenty of questions about some key men.
Will Cooper improve things at first base, and when
Vaughn Grissom arrives will our team be next-gen?
Is Yoshi hurt or will he play now and then?
Will we miss Reyes? (He was great in the pen.)
Will the starters stay hot? That’s beyond our ken,
but I’ve faith that we’ll defend Fenway again.
There’s no time to lay eggs. (This team’s not a hen
or a failing, unfunny comedienne.)
Let’s go slay some Giants and win series 10.

hope to see Grissom soon. Glad to see Cooper in (but not rooting against Dalbec! or Valdez for that matter! may more of those hard hit 350' plus balls start finding grass--or even better start going off or over walls)

Yoshida still banged up (I know he jammed a finger on Sunday) or O'Neill banged up?

Cotillo just tweeted that Grissom not activated because he has the flu.

So now we're down to Refsnyder 5th against a righty. Bailey, give the boys some pointers on how to hit Webb tonight.

We have a North Californian Red Sox fan starting this thread. That has to be good mojo.

I can't believe MLB scheduled this game on the same night that the finales of both The Curse of Oak Island and The Secrets of Skywalker Ranch are on. E5 will have to have multiple screens going.

Regarding Oak Island, I’m betting that they didn’t find the treasure. (Please don’t spoil it if you know.)

Any mention of Jonny Miller and I have to repost his impersonation of Vin Scully. The Spanish and Japanese ones just slay me.

So much interest in Jon Miller here. He has taken off a considerable amount of weight, apparently on recommendation of his doctor(s). No illness that I have heard about, just a smart thing to do getting up there in years (72).

I'm confused by these reference to Jon Miller as Jonny Miller. Ordinarily it wouldn't matter, but there are 2 different guys with similar names:
Jon Miller is the famous Giants broadcaster who worked for the Sox years ago.
Jonny Miller is the local sports guy who has been here forever:

Recently Jonny Miller turned 70 and throughout his overlooked, illustrious career, he has seen them all: Ted Williams and Dwight Evans, David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez; Mookie Betts and Xander Bogaerts.
Jonny went to college at Boston University and began covering the Red Sox in 1972, when they fell a half-game short of the pennant. “I predicted that before the season even started,” he said. From 1975 to the present, he has covered every Sox game, up to the first two games of 2018 World Series.
In 2018 he suffered a stroke on his way to game 3 in the World Series, a series that Boston would eventually win.
Over the years, Miller has been a constant. He usually asks the first question at every Red Sox postgame press conference. And he can say whatever the heck he wants.

Wow, he looks like his voice would sound different after such a big change in his appearance

I know the difference, but I would have sworn that I had heard the Giants b'caster referred to as Jonny. Sorry, must be wrong.
By the way, that audio of Theo was about the worst I've ever heard on the telly.

I’ve heard him this season and he sounds the same.

I crossed paths with Jon at a restaurant on the California coast once. Had my Sox hat on and he had a hearty hello. I said hello and later on I thought why didn’t I say you guys are the best baseball announcers, you and Kruk and Kuip. Like Costanza on that Seinfeld episode, my mind went blank at the critical time.
