Andres Gimenez has 3 hits in the first 4 innings today – a deep home run, an infield single on a routine grounder to short (Osleivis Basabe has made two terrible "errors that aren't errors" in the field in his debut) and then another infield single on a literal cue shot off the knob of the bat when he checked his swing. Diekman then added a 2-base throwing error to the last one.

The Rays schedule in September is really tough. Boston, Seattle, Minnesota, Toronto, Baltimore. 12 of their final 18 games on the road. They could definitely miss out.

It would be nice for TB to miss the playoffs (sorry VORP) after that ridiculously frontloaded schedule, but I doubt they will.

EDIT: I just saw the thread was locked. There is a tweet and photos but I'd like to see major media reports before I delve in so I'm deleting

That twitter account isn't exactly a reputable source. Seems like they're just regurgitating other as yet unsubstantiated claims.

Tanner Bibee's last 10 starts: 2.09 ERA, .223/.296/.330 against. He's a serious rookie of the year candidate.

The Marlins are 5 games above .500, but the six or seven times I have noticed them this year they have done something really good.

Questionable balk on Munoz puts runners at 2nd and 3rd for Baltimore in the 9th, and a Rutschman swinging squeeze bunt plates Mateo by about a millimeter, if that.

What a sequence. Feels like October. If the Sox can’t nose their way in, I would infinitely prefer Seattle to the Jays.

I know Ohtani gets a lot of attention -- rightly so, obviously! -- but it seems like we should be talking more about Matt Olson and his 43 home runs. He has 43 home runs in mid-August!

Clarke Schmidt is getting absolutely rocked right now, and it is a beautiful sight.
Look, momentum is only as good as tomorrow's starting pitcher. Now let me take a big sip of this water while I check tomorrow's probables.
