It’s kind of amazing that Kimbrel is an all time great reliever, but might be the Sox 4th best championship winning closer. At least the one I was least comfortable with in the moment.

Diaz definitely the MVP, right?
Have to assume so and he is the most random player getting into an ASG I can recall seeing. To get in the game in a big moment much less to deliver that way. An OPS+ of 96 and 32 years old.

Technically, he was "the closer", but he didn't close it out. Not even Cora trusted him at that point.
True. I guess if we rank comfort level of the four modern day closers through that season, how would you go?

Koji would definitely be first for me, Kimbrel last. Having a hard time choosing between Foulke and Papelbon.

Papelbon was first for me. He was just nails in 2007.

I couldn‘t name 5 ASG MVPs, I don’t think. Other than the most recent one. Vlad. But then it is quickly forgotten.

Pedro. Lynn, as an Angel. Yaz.

Then there are several I think won it, but I’m not sure. Mays. Maybe Ichiro. Prolly Ripken. It’s a weird award. Clemens? I don’t really care unless a Red Sox wins it.
