Urshela and Gonzalez made the roster ahead of Yandy Diaz because of defense, and they have 3 errors to show for it. I don't even think they can bench Urshela, because Gonzalez looked like a deer in headlights when he played Friday night. I also said last night that I'd have started Salazar... let's see how he does now.

Carlos Santana has a pretty swing. And he plays first base...

I agreed about Salazar.

Why don't they move Kipnis back to second and Ramirez back to 3rd?

Yeah, that makes the most sense. I thought they would at least use a Kipnis (2B), Ramirez (3B) & Austin Jackson (CF) lineup against Sabathia (ie, any lefty starter). Kipnis hasn't played 2B since late August, before his last trip to the DL, but I assume he has to still be taking grounders there.

It looks like the Yankees will have as many wins this season as the Red Sox by the end of this game, which is annoying. But the Wild Card win shouldn't count, because it's the Wild Card game (and also because it was against the Twins). So as long as the Indians can win game 5 (or comeback tonight) I'll be okay with it.

Sigh. Please win game 5 Cleveland, for the sake of everyone in Cleveland, Boston, and good people everywhere.

With four of the five started by a pitcher on short rest. Did Francona learn nothing from last year's WS?

impossible.. .SOSH would have me to believe that Tito is the greatest thing since sliced bread... He can do no wrong

Yanks have now won as many games as the Sox this year. Please let that end in a tie. Hopefully Kluber will pitch more like himself, with a rested Andrew Miller and the home field advantage to get the Indians into the ALCS.

Man alive, I was rooting for these teams yesterday, in this order.

Boston
Diamondbacks
Cleveland
Nationals

0 for 4. That was not an enjoyable day of baseball.

I give you full credit for being consistent, so you've got that in your back pocket.

Imagine if the Indians blow this series; it's in their DNA to do so, been that way all the way back to the 1950's, just unreal how they keep coming up short.

The injury to the DH is huge, about time the MFY's caught a break, talk about a snake bit franchise, seems like nothing every works out for them, the proverbial little train that could.

Hasn't happened yet, so we'll see what Wednesday brings.

If the Indians lose this series, he'll have on his resume since 2011:

2017: Becoming the first(?) team to blow a 2-0 ALDS lead as the #1 seed
2016: Blowing a 3-1 lead in the World Series with home field advantage
2011: Blew a 9 game wild card lead

Thankfully due to Girardi's brain fart, he'll still have a chance to win the series and put the other shit behind him.

Seems like being the presumptive favorite is more stressful to the Tribe than being the underdog

Alright, I know this is a non-Yankee fan thread and if you guys really want me out of here I will leave swiftly and delete my posts (but I am kind of assuming that reason is more for you guys to have game thread to watch the games and not actually discussing the games after). But there isn't a ton of traffic over to the series thread in the Yankees subforum because you all are talking about here.

Having said all that do you guys see the Indians as potentially crumbling under the pressure? They are the better team, have homefield advantage and have the best pitcher in the AL going tomorrow, but they have looked like they are playing back on their heels. And if anyone is going to be playing tight tomorrow, I think it is most likely will be Cleveland. The Yankees always have the goal of winning a World Series, but no one expected them to be where they are right now at the beginning of the year, and at the moment they are playing like they are happy to be there and having fun. The Yankees are usually in a different position than this, so maybe I am reading this all wrong.

I'm not any authority but I don't have an issue with you chiming in Wingack, I've dropped into the Yankee forum threads a couple times lately.

It's a lot easier to play free and easy when you're not burdened with expectations. Last year no one expected them to take it to the Sox and the Jays as handily as they did, especially with all the injuries they had sustained. Even the Series they were often an afterthought to the mighty Cubs narrative that everyone had been building for the whole season (or even several years).

I could very easily see them succumbing to the pressure of being the favorite.
