Eh, he was annoying and self-absorbed and needlessly used steroids to make himself epic even though he would have been great without them. And then lied and lied.
He did volunteer to take a pay cut to come to Boston, but I'm so glad that the trade didn't go through. (I wish the Jason Bay trade had also collapsed). And he can be insightful and articulate: he's a bright guy.
Yankee fans hate ARod because of the first sentence above, but mostly because his agent hypnotized them into giving ARod a ridiculous extension for no clear reason.
Hal deserves that scorn. But he did get them the 2009 title so maybe it was worth the money.
He's a no-doubt HOF for me. If I were at Fenway I'd give him about twenty seconds of light applause, or maybe silence; not sure.
