It didn't really get much better from there...

Single
Strikeout
Steal 2nd
Walk
Walk
Wild pitch to score a run
Walk
Strikeout
Flyout

So, it could have been a lot worse I guess, but yeah. 32 pitches, 16 strikes.
9 pitch, 1-2-3 2nd with 2 strikeouts. Much more efficient.

I think it is Wikelman who in a recent start had a handful of walks but all concentrated in one or two innings. Seems likely it’s more mechanical than anything, which is certainly a fixable thing.

I’ve asked before if Winkleman reminds anyone else of Lester. Lots of K’s but lots of BB’s as they moved up and Lester didn’t really get his control BB rate under control until mid/early ‘08

He also had I believe 10 days between starts so he might have been overhyped.

The 4th has been rough again, though.

I wonder if he has more control problems out of the stretch?

That would be a pretty good result.

Allan Castro hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 1st to tie it up.
He's batting 3rd. ROMAN led off with a walk & Teel flew out to left in his first A+ at bat.

Followed by a Yorberto Mejicano sac fly to make it 2-0.
These were both in the bottom of the 2nd after a Jhostynxon single, Hernandez double & Ravelo walk.

I’ll never forget that season, one of the great “light switch moments” when he threw that no-hitter and suddenly he was regularly throwing 7-8 innings with 1-2 walks and basically never looked back.

Ravelo tagged up on both those sac flies & scored from 3rd on a Feliz single. 3-0.

Lead off double to start the 4th, though.
Gabe Jackson allowed that run on 2 groundouts. Kind of surprising he's done after only 42 pitches. Seems like he's a bit more stretched out than that by now.

Good start, though. 4 innings, 1 run, 2 hits, 0 walks, 3 strikeouts, ERA down to 3.12.

Nathanael Cruz pitched a 1-2-3 5th with 2 strikeouts.

Had some time to look it up during hamster time. The base runner was Sammy Siani who had 14 steals & 6 cs prior to this attempt.

Celluci pitched a scoreless 5th allowing 1 hit. Zeferjahn is in for the 6th down 1-0.
Zeferjahn is another guy who is some control away from being a really interesting piece.

He pitched 2 scoreless innings today, 1 hit walking 2 & striking out 2.

He has a 4.26 ERA... despite walking 33 in 31.2 innings. How is that even possible?

ROMAN walked, but Teel struck out with 1st & 3rd & 0 outs.

Sac fly for Castro, 7-3.
