Sorry I keep doing these earlier & earlier, but yeahhh...

At this point we have one projected starter for tomorrow & it's Dinelson Lamet, who most definitely will not be starting for Worcester tomorrow.

Everyone is scheduled to play.

A prospect who I don't think gets nearly enough love is Franklin Arias. He's #45 on SoxProspects rankings, but he's way behind guys like Melvin Alcantara (#28) who do not seem to be nearly as talented. Both are SS by trade.

Arias was signed for $525k in January which was the 2nd largest bonus of the period behind Yoeilin Cespedes. He is from Caracas, Venezuela & turns 18 on November 19th.

Alcantara was signed for $30k in January 2022 which was the 10th largest bonus of that signing period behind 9 other people. He is from La Victoria, Venezuela & turns 19 on November 2nd.

In his DSL season, '22, Alcantara put up a .302/.406/.397 slash & .803 OPS. In 189 ABs he hit 15 doubles & 1 homer. His k/bb was 33/29.

In his DSL season, '23, prior to his current game, Arias has put up a .346/.412./.439 slash & .851 OPS. In 107 ABs he hit 5 doubles, 1 triple & 1 homer. His k/bb was 11/10.

So far this game, Arias is 2-3 with a double & a walk.

In '23 with the FCL Sox, Alcantara is slashing .245/.349/.313 & has an OPS of .662. In 147 ABs he has hit 7 doubles & 1 homer. His k/bb is 35/22.

Next post I'm going to compare Alcantara to another guy I believe SoxProspects underrates, Fraymi De Leon (not even in their top 60).

Hope they get Antonio Anderson & Nelly Taylor into games soon. Both are listed on the roster. Justin Riemer is too, but pretty sure he's injured.

Fraymi De Leon (who clearly missed his calling as a catcher), signed the largest Red Sox IFA contract in '22, $1.2m. He is from Santiago, Dominican Republic & turns 19 on September 28th. He has a reputation as an elite defensive shortstop, but it was expected that his offense would lag behind.

& it did. In his DSL season, '22, Fraymi put up a .218/.332/.268 slash with a .600 OPS. In 179 ABs he had 1 double, 1 triple & 2 homers. His k/bb was 61/21. Clearly if he was ranked it would have only been based on the pedigree of the signing bonus as he had an awful year offensively.

However...after another rough 31 ABs for DSL Blue to start the year, he got promoted to the FCL

This is what he's doing in the FCL this season:

Slashing .368/.500/.395 with a .895 OPS. Now, I can definitely understand having him below Alcantara, as the Red Sox definitely don't seem to view Fraymi too highly - he usually bats 9th while Alcantara is usually early in the lineup, but Fraymi seems to be moving in the right direction. His k/bb this season is 7/11 which is a stark improvement over his first professional season.

Anyway, I would rank Arias easily over Alcantara & I would rank Fraymi in the top 60, but lower than both (still need to finish my rankings update some day).

A 21 y/o named Moises Rodriguez is throwing a perfect game through 5 with 5 strikeouts against DSL Blue. This is what happens when you don't play YOELY. They're losing 1-0.

Obed Balderas, who turned 17 on July 19th, started for DSL Blue & pitched 4 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, 2 walks & 2 strikeouts. His ERA for the season is 2.08.

Ruben De La Cruz came in & pitched a scoreless 5th.

Frederik Jimenez got a single in the 7th. No perfect game or no hitter!

Losing 2-0 going to the 8th, though.

Kristian Campbell did get out for the 1st time in his professional career, but he hit a double in his 2nd AB.

FCL Sox down 1-0 in the 4th.

Not the worst prediction in the world...

He pitched 3 innings & allowed 1 run on 3 hits, 1 walk & 2 strikeouts.

Stijn Van Der Schaaf is in for the 4th.

DSL Red blew a 6-2 lead & were down 9-6, but they scored 3 in the bottom of the 8th & it's 9-9 headed to the 9th.

Sorry, but Slugger is the Harold Baines of the Mascot Hall of Fame. Otto a very solid choice though. Not inner circle, but he's not lowering the bar either.

RDLC allowed a run in his 2nd inning.

Daury Pena pitched 2 scoreless innings with 1 hit, 1 walk, & 3 strikeouts, lowering his ERA to 1.23.

Alisson Del Orbe allowed an unearned run in the top of the 9th, lowering his ERA to 0.76.

DSL Blue is down 3-0 headed to the bottom of the 9th.

Deybi Salcedo struck out all 3 batters in the 9th, but DSL Red failed to score in the bottom of the 9th & they are on to extra innings.

STARLYN, Jimenez & Yoiber Ruiz each got a single, & Raimundo De Los Santos got a walk. Hurrah.

Poor Obed got the loss.

Salcedo allowed the Manfred Minor League Man to score on a wild pitch & a passed ball. But in 2 innings he has 4 strikeouts, no hits, no walks (but 1 HBP).

10-9 headed to the bottom of the 10th.

Oh, they didn't score in the 10th. DSL updates are a bit erratic.

Lost 10-9 in 10 innings. I believe they'll start a 7 inning game in a bit.

Franklin Arias was 2-3 with a double & 2 walks (.355 average, .882 OPS).

Franyer Noria was 3-5.

Albert Chalas was 1-3 with a triple & 2 walks. Chalas has 9 hits this season...including 2 doubles & 4 triples.

Gerardo Rodriguez was 3-6.

Andruw Musett was 1-3 with a walk. For some reason they pinch ran for him with Anger Romero, who stayed in the game & had the game-losing past ball.

3 pitchers pitched badly for DSL Red, but the one who pitched well I haven't mentioned yet is Andres Jimenez. He pitched 2 scoreless, hitless innings with 3 walks & 3 strikeouts & lowered his ERA to 2.84.

Van Der Schaaf also pitched 3 innings & allowed 1 run, but on 4 hits, 1 walk, 1 HBP & 3 strikeouts.

Darlyn De La Cruz came in & pitched a 1-2-3 7th.

FCL Red Sox are losing 2-0 in the bottom of the 8th with Jogly Garcia in.

Fraymi De Leon came in as a defensive replacement for Campbell in the 8th. Campbell would have batted 2nd in the 9th, but is done for the day at 2-3.

In 2 games, Campbell is 3-4 with 2 doubles, 1 walk & 2 steals.

Back-to-back walks for JOHANFRAN & Fraymi to start the 9th. Jogly pitched a scoreless 8th, so potential tying run on 1st in the top of the 9th, down 2-0.

Deundre Jones had struck out, but Kelvin Diaz hit an RBI single.
