So what exactly prompts a guy (Cunningham) to do this up by 25 points? And then he looked incredulous that it was an ejectable offense. https://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/comments/1b1xqsg/mayhem_ensues_in_lubbock_after_texas_player_body/
He plays very hard and isn’t very good but is physical, made a very dumb decision and deserved to be kicked out. The reaction from Tech fans was lol stuff - what a tantrum. Him being tossed in any normal game wouldn’t been the end of it but Tech despises Texas because Texas lives in their head so we got this. Bad stuff all around.

Thank goodness Filipowski is playing tonight. All those prayer candles and pearls clutched came through!

Kind of rooting for Duke here, to deal the dagger to State and their NCAA hopes, TBH.

They're going to ruin the tournament. And while the NCAA sucks this will be on the Big Ten & SEC.

While last-minute pivots are never out of the question — especially when some of the people included in the conversations are already working on expanding the College Football Playoff bracket before it’s even played — a 72- or 76-team field seems the most likely outcome.
“The NCAA has to be proactive,” the source said. “Expansion — modest expansion — may be the only way to keep the tournament we all know and love alive.”

So I read the article, but it fails to explain WHY the tournament needs to expand.

What's the logic?
According to Big 12 commissioner he wants the best teams to compete for the championship.

“I want to see the best teams competing for a national championship, no different than (the Big Ten and SEC) want to see in football,” Yormark said. “I’m not sure that is currently happening.”

It's a crock of shit. The Power 5 ADs want as many of their teams in the tournament as possible so they can keep as much of the money as they can. No one gives two shits about the 8th place teams from the SEC or Big Ten in the first round. The reason the event is so popular is because of the upsets on the first couple days.

Small nitpick but starting next year it will be the Power 4 ADs. And of course it's BS. And they aren't worrying about the 8th place teams making the field. They are worrying about 10&11 place teams making the field next year. The compromise is going less expansion but taking away some of the conferences auto bids.

Yeah which is going to make the tournament much less popular if they take away the mid and low major auto bids.

How much of the popularity is filling out a bracket? How many casual fans that watch and pay attention will say “no” if there is a convoluted system to fill it out?

So...according to this metric RJ Davis isn't a slam dunk for ACC POY let alone NCAA POY?
Pomeroy has said that his player rankings are not intended as a predictive device for any player of the year awards, but they're intended to provide a (mostly) objective measure, using his offensive and defensive stats, of the most valuable players in the sport each year. I don't think the relative rankings of 2 through 10 on the current list (copied below) predict anything about who should get player of the year awards in their respective conferences, but I don't think there's a legitimate argument for anyone other than Edey for national player of the year.

Caitlin Clark effect.

Also...as always, people screw up good things. The NFL was *perfect* at 16 games and 6 teams in each conference playoffs, with two byes. They had to screw that up.

And a 64-team field was perfect. Easy to manage, no stupid "first four" games. Just clean and easy and simple to understand. But no, they had to get greedy and screw that up.

The CFB playoffs at 4 or even 8 teams are fine and dandy. But no, they have to go to 12 teams, and before they even do that, they're already talking about 14. They have to get greedy and screw that up.

Not that it's really going to matter in the end... but based upon the NET rankings, Drake's at large chances are slim at best and James Madison's are even less. 30 W's and missing the tournament.

What should be considered the edge of the bubble using NET? The low 40s?

Richmond loses to George Mason, Loyola playing La Salle right now. A win & Loyola shares the A10 title in their second year in the conference.

Loyola wins! From last in the conference to co-champs. They’re the #2 seed for the A10 tourney.

Since the last time UNC and Duke split the ACC regular season title in 2001, those teams have played the season finale with a potential UNC title (outright or shared) on the line nine times. UNC won all nine... including four times at Cameron.

Also, I know we are all anti court storming, but we are pro throwing projectiles at the players, right?

The hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Are we talking about Cameron crazies? Always so well behaved. Nice that Coach K was there to see UNC beat Duke once again at Duke.

Exactly... and no mention of filipowski pulling a Greyson Allen... looked like the same move he used to trip the wake fan
They’re basically the Yankee fans from the infamous Nelson Cruz .gif with trust funds and polo shirts.

FWIW, most of the fans on the Duke board are calling it a trip and a dirty play. Normally it’s a pretty homer-ish board.

I felt bad for Filipowski when he got hurt during the court storm. But this incident has soured me on him because it's so obvious he did it on purpose. He turned his head and looked back and only then did he stick his leg up to trip him. Then in the post game interview he was like, oh I had no idea he was there, I don't remember anything like that.

Come on dude.

And it makes me think that he wasn't really hurt during the court storm. That still wasn't right, and it's still a dangerous play, but the guy seems totally fake. Even Bilas saw the replay and was like, ohhhhhh that's a bad look right there. He knew.
