This UNC/Virginia game is HOMELY. I’m talking HOME-LY.
That’s every UVA game. I legitimately feel bad for their fans. I’d rather go 0 for the season than watch this shit. It’s not basketball. It’s like the Miami Heat foul every play strategy, except most of them suck at basketball.

Duke kid got hurt because of that shit, too.
Yup. I hate Duke but that was wrong. Don’t make contact with the people playing is rule number one.
This ain’t like football where you have more field, more pads and usually have to jump down over a barrier.

need more security and also more adulthood by the home team fans

act like you’ve been there before, Deacons, you have a good team this isn’t that big of an upset
The last 10 years for wake bball fans has been absolutely depressing with 2 absolutely horrendous coaching hires. I get the act like you have been there before sentiment but that was by far the biggest win for Wake in the last 10 years. I agree too, with the under no circumstances should a player get hurt during a storm.

This and Caitlin Clark have brought me back to my #1 college rule change the NCAA should make.....
If your crowd storms the court you retroactively forfeit. Also you are required to expel any student who storms the court, if you fail to do so you get a postseason ban for the next year you would qualify.

It's stupid dangerous shit that they encourage and celebrate.

I don’t like the forfeit idea forfeit Idea because that hurts the players. I think it should be games without fans or heavy fines or even loss of scholarships.

The thing is... that's been the closest they've gotten to effectiveness in world soccer, you discourage the behavior by punishing the team/school, because that is what incentivizes them to make a real effort to stop it. Court storming happens because schools somewhere between encourage and tolerate it.

I don’t know how you stop court storming. Unless you put a big wall around the stands. And that’s impossible. Most come all the way down to the floor.

Having lived many years in NC I can say that when an NC State or a Wake beats Duke or UNC it is a HUGE deal for the fans, students and alumni. That was not just another win.

They should be banned or you wait until the opposing players get off the court.

IMO, and some UNC honks may disagree/are way too into their own fandom, but all of the postgame antics really marred the victory and embarrassed Wake Forest (as a school and athletic department). It’s inexcusable that Forbes calls a timeout with one second left, presumably to let security set up, and that shit still happens.

ODU coach Jeff Jones is retiring. He hasn't coached since December after suffering a heart attack in Hawaii. I think the game has somewhat passed him by as his brand of hoops doesn't seem to appeal to kids today, and the program has suffered this season. ODU is only 7-22, the worst season a long time.

Next season they have a top-30ish recruiting class, but one wonders if the recruiter that did all the work will still be here and allow them to keep those guys.

I think the tournament is going to be great this year. I don't think there are any truly great teams.

In fact, my guess is that someone who is greater than +1500 or +2000 to win it all is going to. If you could get decent odds on the field, not including the presumptive 1 and 2 seeds going into conference tournaments, I might like that bet. Iowa State, whatever. Someone like that is going to win it.

I haven't gotten to watch much lately but it seems to me UConn is by far the best overall team, then Purdue. Then a pretty big step down.

But Purdue has a coach you can't trust to win anything and a history of choking. I'd take UConn vs the field.

They've got the same problem they had two years ago in that they have no bench (although Withers came off the milk carton some tonight) or at least no bench that Hubert trusts outside Trimble, and he offers next to nothing offensively. That causes the starters to get run down and they go into this stall-ball crap in the last five minutes where it's all high ball screens for RJ and very easy to defend. It's a real fail on Hubert's part that a glaring lack of bench depth remains an issue, and he can't continue to have whiffs in the portal like Wojcik and Okonkwo have been.

All of their poor games recently are on the second half of Saturday to Tuesday or Saturday to Monday turnarounds, which doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in a tournament setting.

With Washington, he's able to go to Trimble, JW, and Withers, so going 8 deep this late in the year isn't too bad. I never really expected much out of Okonkwo or Wojcik, so I'm not sure I'd consider them misses. The stall ball late in games is definitely a problem. They almost blew the game in Miami and the home game against Duke the same way. What was most concerning to me yesterday was the inability to break a press with 3 point guards on the court and the inability to put the game away at the free throw line.

Regardless, this team has already mostly exceeded my expectations for this season. They're likely going to get at least a share of the ACC and get a 1 or 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. I'd have been happy with a top 4 finish in the conference and being on the 4 line in the NCAA tournament, so I'm good.

That's a good point about the short turnarounds, but I'd imagine most schools have similar issues, especially when factoring in travel. At least in a tournament situation they'll be in the same location and won't have to worry about travel.
