More to the point, the much maligned offer to LaVine was designed to buy offense on the cheap. Smart, while being a decent compliment to what they already have (and a guy Joerger might love) doesn't fit in that mold. The Kings have lots of guys that can’t shoot. They really don’t need more.
I think Parker would be worth an offer sheet to them. He’s a good offensive player and their wings are pretty awful. No legit UFA will ever sign there so might as well try to overpay a bit to get a decent player in Parker.More to the point, the much maligned offer to LaVine was designed to buy offense on the cheap. I think the non-ex-Spur Parker might be their next target though there are some fit issues with him too.
As a side note, you want to know who would fit perfectly with Sacramento? Mook Morris. I bet they are a potential trade partner if the Celtics decide to deal him this summer.
I can't imagine the Kings signing Jabari when they just drafted Bagley to play the 4 and also have Labissiere, Z-Bo, and Giles there next to WCS/Koufos in the middle. I mean, insert Willie McGee joke at your own peril but Jabari doesn't make a ton of sense here.I think Parker would be worth an offer sheet to them. It’d be more of a move to just add talent and sort out rotations later. Right now their entire roster doesn’t make sense. Parker is a net negative on defense at any position so I could see them trying him at the 3.I can't imagine the Kings signing Jabari when they just drafted Bagley to play the 4 and also have Labissiere, Z-Bo, and Giles there next to WCS/Koufos in the middle. I'm a huge Rondo guy and agree with your assessment of his BBall IQ but he's still a ball pounder and I'm not sure how that is going to work with LBJ. And while he knows other teams' sets he hasn't been a good defender in years. If Rondo doesn't have the highest basketball IQ in the NBA he is in the conversation. Same with LeBron. They will figure out a way to play together because that is who they are.
The knock on Rondo has been motivation and consistent effort. His best games came in the spotlight on national TV. He is hugely competitive and a great defender when he applies himself. If he is playing next to arguably the greatest player of all time, he will find a way to take it to the next level.
I watched him from my seats for many many years. Not only is he going to blow out Ball in the preseason for the starting gig, we're going to see some of his best work in years. That's my best guess.
We'll see though. It could blow up. I'm pretty biased but that's how I'm calling it.
The Bucks are hard-capped because they used the full MLE to sign Ilyasova. They wouldn't be able to match a Lavine-type offer unless they dumped salary. That being said, the Kings supposedly don't have interest in Parker because they don't think they can play him with Bagley. I'd take a shot anyway just because they are so talent-deprived, but I'm not the GM of a team that has missed the playoffs for the last 12 years so what do I know.Pretty sure the Bucks match on any Parker offer anyway. Given his 2 huge injuries, I'm not sure what kinda offers he gets anyway. I'd guess LaVine money but I wouldn't be shocked if he got considerably less.
I thought the hard cap didn't matter when resigning your own players? The Bucks are hard-capped because they used the full MLE to sign Ilyasova. I think the issue is once you use the full mid-level you're not allowed to go above the Apron for the rest of the season under any circumstances, even using the standard exceptions like using Bird rights to retain your own players.I thought the hard cap didn't matter when resigning your own players?
It's an order of operations thing. Had they signed Jabari first it wouldn't have been an issue. However, once you've committed the full MLE you can't go over the hard cap for any reason. Teams over the apron only get the lower taxpayer MLE. This is what cost the Pistons KCP last year.I thought the hard cap didn't matter when resigning your own players?

Zeller and Jennings have non-guaranteed deals, so if they released them both they could get in the neighborhood of $20MM of space under the hard cap. They either didn't think Jabari would get that much, or didn't want to go over that number in their negotiations. If the Kings offered the exact Lavine deal they'd be in a really tough spot cap-wise but I don't expect that to happen.Which implies they never wanted Jabari back, anyway. Interesting. That should set off some warning signals so the Kings are a perfect fit.
That’s a pretty good point, he pretty much fills their needs for a F, someone that plays tough defense and can give them a little shooting, albeit streaky shooting with too many long twos in the mix. But he’d still be a good fit for them.As a side note, you want to know who would fit perfectly with Sacramento? Mook Morris. I read this first and assumed RedickJJ gets a ring. Good for him.
I like what the Pelicans have done under the circumstances. Payton and Randle have flaws, but are nice fits for what they need and will replace a lot of what they lost when Cousins and Rondo moved on.
If you listen closely, you can hear a string quartet playing "Nearer My God to Thee".
Sources: Charlotte, Chicago and Orlando finalizing trade that includes Mozgov to Magic, Biyombo to Charlotte and Julyan Stone to Bulls.
Multiple sources indicate Jerian Grant is going to Orlando in the deal.
Rookie contract extensions are based on future production......not on that of prior years. Similar to the deals Exum and LaVine signed in this regard.Devin Booker is signing a 5/158 extension.
Really boggles my mind that a player like that can get 30+ a year. Winsahres has him as a 2 win player, 2.9 bpm. Is this the NBA for the future, every top 150 player or so gets max contracts?
Not disagreeing but this is true theoretically of all contracts no?Rookie contract extensions are based on future production......not on that of prior years. Similar to the deals Exum and LaVine signed in this regard.
This is the deal IT wanted and probably deserved before his hip blew upDevin Booker is signing a 5/158 extension.

Over/under on how much his shooting percentage improves now that he can see the rim?Payton also cut his stupid hair.
Theoretically but not always with some GMs. For example, the Zach LaVine match probably had more to do with saving face in light of a bad trade than actual wins and losses: https://www.si.com/nba/2018/07/07/zach-lavine-kings-bulls-free-agency-rumorsNot disagreeing but this is true theoretically of all contracts no?
No wonder Ainge/Zarren stand out. FWIW, 538’s CARMELO projection system has him as being worth $107MM over the next five years, so it’s not that big of an overpay, especially given their cap and roster situation.Devin Booker is signing a 5/158 extension.

I read this quickly as Melo was projected to be worth $107m over the next 5 years.FWIW, 538’s CARMELO projection system has him as being worth $107MM over the next five years, so it’s not that big of an overpay, especially given their cap and roster situation.
So this means the chances of this forum exploding over the next few months have increased...Turns out IT to Orlando isn't a thing after all?

The Orlando Magic and Isaiah Thomas never were negotiating a possible contract. Is it correct to say the Magic explored the possibility of signing Thomas? Yes. But there were no negotiations. The addition of Jerian Grant indicates Orlando had decided not to ultimately pursue IT.
