Lebron really turned it up a few notches to end the half. Up to 22 on 10/13 and they have a lead.

Pretty awesome TNT is letting this kid run the halftime show. He's good.

I see Jeff Green is having his annual Fool's Gold game. Excellent. Give him more minutes, Ty Lue!

LA has a pretty light schedule this month. They’re going to win some games. Still think they’ll be somewhere in the 7-8 range - close enough for us to have a puncher’s chance.

I posted this a while ago, but a useful reminder... odds the pick conveys based on LAL finishing position:

1 75%
2 80.1
3 80.4
4 70.9
5 46.5
6 15.2
7 10.7
8 7.2
9 4.4
10 2.9
11 2.1
12 1.8
13 1.6
14 1.3

1-4: really good chance
5: coin flip
6-8: not likely, but possible
9+: very unlikely

I think there's a chance they end up in that 6-8 "very unlikely to convey" range, but getting any higher than that is more about the ineptitude of Dallas/Atl/SAC/Chi/Pho than about the Lakers' talent (barring injuries).

Not seeing a lot of defense being played in the Rockets-Cavs game.

James Harden had a triple double, five steals and five three pointers. The last player to do that was Latrell Sprewell back in 2002.

Jae Crowder: 23 minutes, 3 points (1 of 2 from floor), 5 rebounds.

Despite LBJ playing 40 minutes at +5, Wade somehow was able to find 20 minutes to get to -21.

Everyone's +/- was modest, second-largest was +/- 9 in either direction. Makes sense in a 4-point game. But in just 20 minutes, Wade was a huge outlier at -21.

EDIT: jinx.

Jeff Green pretty easily outplaying Jae Crowder so far to start the season is, um, troubling.

Simmons, Embid, and Covington are really good players. Philly has so much more talent than Sacremento, not sure how this is a game?

This game is really fun to watch and Sacramento has enough good young depth to hang with Philly. And ZBo who looks to be carrying about 25 extra pounds right now. Embiid is abusing Fat Old ZBo.

Don't tell anyone...it ruins the national narrative, but remember how the West/East NBA disparity was supposed to be at an all-time high?

With 16% of the inter-conference games completed, the East is up 37-34.

(East went 4-0 tonight...all on the road.)

Isn't most of the disparity with the top teams in each conference rather than top to bottom overall? What's the West's current playoff teams doing to the East's so far?

For the East, records against the West:
Boston 4-0
Detroit 4-1
Orlando 4-0
Toronto 4-3
Washington 3-4
(and because they'll probably make the playoffs) Cleveland 0-2

West against the East
GS 3-1
Houston 5-1
Minnesota 2-2
Memphis 0-2
San Antonio 4-4

That wasn't his question. His question was East playoff teams vs West playoff teams. I'm guessing that sample size is pretty tiny though. The Celtics would be 1-0. 2-0 if you count OKC, who aren't a playoff team atm.

I expect the Warriors to come in here Thursday and absolutely thump the Celtics. GSW will come in here heated up to make a statement and we are just too banged up.

I'd love to see a competitive game and win/lose I'd take that as a positive.

Anyone pay attention to the Jazz? Is there a reason Donovan Mitchell is getting so much burn? He's a decent enough defender but he's atrocious on offense. He has some upside though.

And John Collins continues to impress. Atlanta got a find at 19.

Mitchell definitely has upside. They're asking him to do a TON for a non-lottery rookie (or even for a lottery rookie), and so his offense is predictably bad. A lot of the pieces are there though, and I'm very high on him. He has a pretty clear path to becoming Marcus Smart with a shot and better finishing, which would be a really good player.

We are reasonably likely to have everyone except Hayward available by Thursday. That said, I still expect the Warriors to win by around 20.

FYI, Mitchell was a lottery pick.

Watching the NO game and Okafor might make sense for them. They play Cousins and Davis close to 40 minutes a night. They have no other bigs. I'm not sure if/when Asik and Ajinca are supposed to return and not sure they are the answers. Cousins and Davis are both good enough defensively and spread the floor to play with Okafor. Given they don't bench Cousins and Davis together, Okafor would always be playing alongside one and could get 20-25 minutes a night.

Rondo is coming back soon too.

edit: Greg Monroe would be a great fit too.

Hogan, ya never know. The Celts shooting percentages have been average to below. If they have an above average make, game. They would likely be very competitive. For a game anyway.

The NO broadcast just said that teammates have never averaged 25/10 in a season together. Barring injury, that's definitely going to happen this year. Also noticed Davis is shooting .394 from 3, although he hasn't taken one this game. Scary. Although nowadays it seems like every big has added the 3 to their game and shoot it at a decent clip.

Porzingis returns after missing the last game due to injury and already has 20 with a minute until halftime. Knicks up 58-49 vs the Kings and looking to improve to 7-5. Spurs are moping the floor with the Bulls, up 37-15 after 1.

Lonzo Ball is currently 2/2 with both shots being 3s. 6 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block with 1:16 left in the first. They trail the Bucks 22-16. I'm curious what the Bucks do with Bledsoe and one less big. I think Henson may get a small 3-4 minute bump while Bledsoe replaces all the dreck at the end of the bench which would actually give him close to 30 minutes without affecting anyone else's minutes, outside of maybe Teletovic if they tighten up to an 8 man rotation.

Giannis, Middleton, Bledsoe, Snell, Henson with Brogdon, Maker, and Delladova off the bench is a nice 8 man core.

Lakers have tied it up 34-34 and Ball is easily having his best game as a pro so far. 6 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block on 2/3 shooting with 5 minutes to go in the 2nd. He may get that triple double. I'm not sure if he'll be the youngest ever or not. He'll be close.

Sixers in a dogfight with Warriors at half in GS. Nice job Philly. Fired up to watch this 2nd half, the 76ers are interesting to watch.

Cavs are in a dog fight with the Mavs 65-64 with 6:55 in the 3rd. That would be another terrible lose, but at least this one is on the road.

edit: Lonzo Ball is now 5/8, 3/5 from 3... 13 points, 11 assists, 9 rebounds, with 18:57 left to play in the game. He's going to be the youngest player ever with a triple double barring some freak occurrence. Given how close the game is, he could up some big numbers.

double edit: Ball got the triple double.

Odd that 38 minutes into the game, Ingram and Ball have each played 29 minutes. Lakers down 8. Ball is +10, Ingram -22.

Warriors quickly reminded the Sixers who they are, a middling Eastern Conf team that will struggle to make the playoffs this season.
