That's about as bad a game as a defender can have. Personally surrender 3 goals subbed off before half.

Do world class players have world class eyes that can see through sun glare?
If you think this is all about the sun, then we don't have much to talk about.

The first two goals were set pieces that had nothing to do with the sun. (Hell, they kept the ball down, so the sun couldn't have had an impact.). The third goal was aa misplayed header and a scorching volley from Holiday.

The fourth could have been sun-aided. Or not.

I love it when centerbacks lead the offense up the wing.

Of course I don't think that. As you said, these are world class players making youth league mistakes. I think it's pretty fair to wonder why and the sun can explain some of what we saw. The US deserves its lead and there were plenty of non sun related errors but Jesus dude, we just saw a keeper get chipped from midfield in the World Cup final.

Edit: I just thought your response was silly. Being world class doesn't make the sun not shine

It wasn't totally the sun, but there's definitely an advantage for the attacking team in that situation.  Minor, but it's there.

Come on, the sun didn't leave them unmarked.

On every goal but the Xabi Chip, Lloyd/Holliday were completely alone.  Like he said above, the first two Lloyd goals were on the ground.

What is Rapinoe complaining about? She didn't get within a yard of the ball and took out the attacker. She's lucky it wasn't a yellow.

I'd say the third goal may have been affected by the sun. The defender tried to head a low ball without much pressure. Might have lost it in the sun until the last minute.

It may have.  But Holliday was definitely able to essentially walk the ball into the net.  The sun didn't leave her undefended.

Some asshat has already added this to the FIFA Women's World Cup page:

The most recent World Cup began on June 6, 2015. It is currently ongoing, hosted by Canada(United States of penis). In the final the USA women stomped on Japan with 4 goals in the first 16 minutes.
