What kind of ball are you using? If you're not using a premium ball, you're not going to get much spin around the green regardless of technique. Also, make sure your grooves are clean before the shot.southshoresoxfan said:Any tips for bounce/degree/swing technique for getting the ball to stick near the greens? Have pretty good touch w my SW near the greens but still get roll out a lot of the time.
What type of club or swing will promote more backspin to get that biting motion
If it's more spin you want then the Pro is a better ball than the Pro Plus. Just like ProV1 and ProV1xsouthshoresoxfan said:Awesome! Ive been using either Bridgestone 6s or Callaway Chromes lately. Thinking of switching to the Vice Pro Plusses. Ill work on the left hand lead. Thanks thats a great video.
The 56 is fine. I use my 60 and can spin it and hit it low when I need to (when I have a 60 with grooves in it that is)southshoresoxfan said:What kind of wedge is best for these type of shots? Love my SW near the green. Is it better to go w a 52ish degree or is the 56 ok and its more the lie/swing?
Whatever you're comfortable with, to be honest.southshoresoxfan said:What kind of wedge is best for these type of shots? Love my SW near the green. Is it better to go w a 52ish degree or is the 56 ok and its more the lie/swing?
High spin ball. Grooves in good condition. Accelerate through the ball. Perfect contact. Firmer and faster greens will show you more too.southshoresoxfan said:Any tips for bounce/degree/swing technique for getting the ball to stick near the greens? Yeah i agree w the overrated part for sure. But as a mid to low 80s guy im nitpicking my game and adding shots to the arsenal now.Comfortably Lomb said:High spin ball. Grooves in good condition. Accelerate through the ball. Perfect contact. Firmer and faster greens will show you more too.
Just my two cents but I find spin overvalued by most amateurs. It's nice to have in the arsenal but it feels like a lot of players view it as some magic bullet.
You say you're getting roll-out but how much are we talking? I've spent countless hours working on opening a 60 for shorter flop shots that mostly drop dead but my preference is generally to keep the ball low and roll it when I have a chance. Closer and safer more often.

My go to shot inside 50 has just been a chip w my 56 degree. I get a decent amount (20 feet) of rollout because i get a little flippy through the ball. So having to aim short leaes me in trouble with hills or not much green to work with.
The thought here is in a scrambling situation on a par 4 or GIR chip on a long 5 id like to get my putts within 15 more often to give me a better chance at birdie.
I dont have a 60 in the arsenal. Its on my list of clubs to add this yr. That and maybe a 3wood. Ive hesitated there because i hit my 3irom hybrid about 235 straight so the value of an extra few yards hasnt been worth it for me yet

Do you watch the golf fix at all? Breeds awesome at simple cues, which is all that works for me.The Four Peters said:And then I go out today, can't get off the tee (again), get the shanks to a tune of a 10 on a par 5, and shoot a 50 on an easy course. Aggravating.

I sent someone else down to Mike Lynott in Raynham last year as well and they had very positive feedback. Old school guy, affordable, simple cues.
For me its just keep right arm tight on the backswing, head down, full turn, fire down the line. I was a total mess early last year. Very inconsistent. Hes helped me get down to a 10ish.
That's simple. Start on 10Papelbon's Poutine said:In all seven rounds I've played so far this season, my back nine has been at least 5 strokes better than my front. Monday was 49/41. Frustrating as hell. I'm hitting a small bucket and putting for about five minutes before hand, but I'm not sure what else I can do. I guess start drinking earlier, maybe the swing oil isn't lubricating early on.

Made it 3-holes today before the heaven's opened up. Sigh.cshea said:Anyways, back at it next weekend. Tee times set, aiming for a 36 hole weekend.

Comfortably Lomb said:Yup, worth trying at least--some people are made for those things. Also worth trying is lead tape on whatever his putter is right now. Very handy for messing with overall putter weight and heel-toe balance. Apply liberally to the sole, toe, and heel and mess around with the ratios. Too many people feel buying a new putter is some sort of magic bullet.

Phragle said:My club fitter cut the shafts on my wedges (3) more than I asked. I've yet to get him on the phone, but what do you guys think I should do or ask for? I'd like to tell him to replace the shafts and cut them the right length for free, but IDK.
The Four Peters said:Man, I just can't figure out my swing. Driver is just way off, irons are inconsistent, everything feels wrong. I have just enough good shots thought to make me think that it's not totally lost. Going for a lesson on Thursday to see if I can get some working tips to focus on to at least get me back to even. Frustrating right now.
I was worried about all this as well when I first made the switch to spikeless and none of it was an issue. Plenty of traction and I got about 75-80 round out of my first pair - actually a stitch ripped before the soles wore down. They are super comfortable. I'm kind of an Adidas whore when it comes to athletic footwear, they just fit my foot best, so I rock the Adicross, but I've heard great things about the Eccos too, they're just way more expensive.Bongorific said:I need a new pair of shoes. Talk to me about the sneakers spikeless options. They look very comfortable but I'm curious 1) how well they grip and 2) whether the soles wear down quickly.
I would think walking along the cart path, club house, parking lot would wear down the textured soles requiring frequent replacement. I guess there's a savings not having to keep replacing soft spikes on traditional shoes, but my course replaces soft spikes for free anyway.
