The current BC offense is the 2001 Rams compared to UConn. I have never seen an offense as bad as UConn's at any level of college football.
Any idea where Aaron ended up? I went to high school with him.Apparently hired a couple not Italians as assistants.
Really waiting for some minority coaches soon. I think BC should have 3 or 4 on the staff. We already let one good one go in Aaron Smith. So far we haven't even had a rumor of a candidate.
classic GDF, Flynn Fund was $20mil, and he claims it was 'flat' compared to last year, where he counts the $5mil gift to Hockey and the $2.5mil those other people gavehttp://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/bc/genrel/auto_pdf/2012-13/misc_non_event/annual-report.pdf
The 2012 BC Athletic Annual REport is out. This was produced before GDF "retired"
Agree it is NOT Stanford. But there is no reason it should not employ their football ops plan going forward and why they cannot within 3 years be a viable, competitive prgram again. I think they went away from thier core recruiting, marketing plan in the last 4-5 years or so. They should also make as part of their plan that they retain any New England BCS level kid who has the academics to get by admissions. Obviously they won't keep them all but they should have as a reachable goal 85% retention of those kinds of kids.I'm an alum of BC, I love the school, but it's not Stanford. If you mean that we should be trying to recruit good players as part of our business plan...no shit, of course. It's just a mistake to assume that BC can have the allure of Stanford to a potential recruit. Yes, you get a great education at BC, but it's not a Stanford education. There's not a lot of kids around Massachusetts who are dreaming to go to BC and play football and there won't be for a while unless and until a whole lot changes over there. BC's education quality isn't enough for kids (who aren't alum children) to dream about going there for academics, nor are the non hockey sports programs good enough to be a dream for athletics.
How many BCS-conference programs are there that have never played in a BCS bowl game? That list has to be getting awfully short at this point, and BC is on it with no exit anywhere in sight.
They should make their own conference with Cal, Vandy, NW, and UVA. name it ARBS. A rung below Stanford. That's a pathetic group to be lumped in with.
Some you are missing, Missouri (robbed), Iowa St, South Carolina, Duke, Rutgers, USF, Michigan St, Minnesotta, Texas tech, BaylorIndiana
NW
Arizona
AZ St
Cal
Kentucky
Vandy
Miss
Miss St
Iowa St
NC State
UVA
maybe a few more
but yes, Coop, fewer than I thought. Some of the lower Big "10" and Pac "10" teams have made it, even Purdue and Wash St.
If that is the case then BC shoulodn't be on the list either as they played in the Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl in the 40's.Wait, didn't Northwestern make the Rose Bowl in 1996? That was before the BCS system but should count.
I was away last week and was thinking the same thing. It will be a good barometer of the teams season.Agree it is NOT Stanford. Also, not for nothin' but given Ga Tech's domination of USC yesterday, is it still unrealistic to think that BC doesn't have a shot next September? The schedule is set up for them to be competitive. They will be in camp on/about August 10th, will have a game under their belt and 2 weeks to get ready. This of course all blows up if the ACC drops a conference game into the mix on September 7th. The reason I am keying this game (besides the fact that it will be 10 miles from my house) is because it is an early test and a key showcase game for the Dazz era. USC will be good no doubt but I truly do not think they are invincible. This game will be a table setter for the season. They win this or play them real tough, an 8-4 record is not out of the question. They get blown out, they could end up 6-6 or 5-7. Happy New Year Fellas.....talk with you down the road.
Stony Brook is August 31st.2013 Football schedule announced. The dates have to be firmed up but the teams and locations are a done deal:
HomeStony BrookArmyNew Mexico StateFSUVa TechWakeNC State

Looking at that I see 7-5 and if the dominos drop, maybe 8-4. All in all not a bad slate of games and the home schedule, although not star studded, isn't bad.
I am hopeful that next year when Louisville Joins they will do something more than simply plugging Louisville in Maryland's place, because that really does shift the balance of power. The schedule becomes really tough for BC if you are suddenly playing FSU, Clemson, VT (rivalry game), and then add in Louisville.I continue to find it absurd that the ACC didn't realign the divisions to maintain the old ACC and old Big East rivalries. BC should be playing Pitt and Miami every year moving forward.
I think they may put the old gang back together again and perhaps add FSU to the BE division after next year. That way you would have basically the pre 2000 BE in one division and the pre 2000 ACC in the other. It would make a lot of sense and they could round robin the 2 cross over games so that you play each team at least once in a 4 year cycle. BC for example would have a tough conference schedule but they could even it out with some CUSA/BE teams, Army, UMass and then add ND or on non ND years a national opponent. That would look like a pretty good schedule.I am hopeful that next year when Louisville Joins they will do something more than simply plugging Louisville in Maryland's place, because that really does shift the balance of power. On the other hand, not really sure anyone would want to put the gang back together and have a division with BC, Cuse, Pitt, VT, Miami, Louisville +?? .
You can't add FSU to that half. Athough I am sure the old school ACC teams would love that. Clemson would be in the ACC title game 3 or 4 years out of every 5, as you'd basically have 4 of the 5 strongest programs in the conference in the BE side.I think they may put the old gang back together again and perhaps add FSU to the BE division after next year. ....or the Blue Division and The Gray Division in the All Confederate Conference (ACC)rumor on EO that ACC may go to the North South divs (Sherman Div. vs Lee Div?)
BigMike said:Daz breaks the long drought. Apparently BC has received a QB from a lefty QB from Ohio who was an Ohio recruit James Walsh.
That gives BC 3 QB recruits for the class, so it will be interesting to see if this drives Tim Boyle who is considered BC's top recruit to seek another school
EagleAction.com
Tim Boyle is still committed to Boston College but the three-star signal caller is now listening to what other schools have to say.
SoxScout said:Good call .... Eagle in Atlanta .... "First he landed a dual threat QB and now he has basically told our highest rated recruit Tim Boyle that the system is going to favor dual guys."
sachmoney said:A point of clarification, is the frustration here with BC pushing a recruit out the door, the timing, or with the [spread] system itself? To me, it makes sense that 'daz would want dual threat QBs to run his system, but obviously the timing of this is less than ideal with just over a week until signing day.
Xavier-Middletown quarterback Tim Boyle committed to the UConn football program on Sunday, deciding against playing for Boston College in the fall.
"I have nothing but respect for the new coaching staff [at Boston College]," Boyle said Sunday shortly after arriving home from UConn. "They did a great job recruiting me. But as we all know the circumstances there don't really fit me. I wanted to keep my options open and UConn was always in my top three. I've always loved UConn. They've always been great to me. Coach (Paul) Pasqualoni has done a great job recruiting me and (quarterbacks coach Shane) Day visiting me, being honest and staying true to me — and UConn gave me the best opportunity."

C.W. Baker High School running back Tyler Rouse will commit to the Boston College football program tomorrow, according to his high school. The Baldwinsville, New York native will sign a National Letter of Intent during a ceremony tomorrow at 2:30 PM Eastern.
Rouse, the New York State Gatorade Player of the Year, was being recruited by both Boston College and another ACC school according to his HS head coach Carl Sanfilippo. He reportedly had interest from Buffalo, Connecticut, Syracuse and Temple. If BC hadn't offered, Rouse was prepared to attend prep school for a year over accepting a scholarship at an FCS school.

He stands just 5 feet, 8 inches and is about 205 pounds. Under long sleeve clothing it's impossible to tell that he overpowers defenders on the field."
"He does his damage on the second level. While his speed is exceptional - he ran a 4.46 40-yard dash - he takes most of his carries between the tackles, rarely settling for edges. After he bursts through the defensive line, he can either overpower linebackers and defensive backs, or pull off devastating cuts to get around opposing defenders."
“Syracuse called and said they couldn’t get over my size and they probably couldn’t really keep recruiting me,” Rouse said. “So, therefore, I didn’t end up going to the camp because I felt that I was unwanted and there was no need to go.”
Despite totaling nearly 3,000 yards on the ground and 45 touchdowns during his senior season, Rouse had virtually no offers until last week. His Scout.com page is barren, his Rivals.com and ESPNU pages nonexisten. In a new age of recruiting, fueled by the Internet and television, there’s almost no evidence of the running back who rewrote the Central New York record books and put up unmatched numbers this season.
With two days remaining until National Signing Day, Rouse, New York’s Gatorade Player of the Year, remains undecided on his college future. Despite being one of the best to ever play in Central New York, Syracuse hasn’t made an offer. He had almost no interest from major conference schools until the past two weekends, when he traveled to a pair of undisclosed schools, including one in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

LeftyTG said:I follow Syracuse recruiting very closely and Rouse, given where he is from, was always a topic of conversation. It isn't so much an issue of Rouse being overlooked than it is that he doesn't project well as a FBS level running back, given his size and physical running style. There is also some concern about his high school usage. He had upwards of 600 carries the last 3 years, played on defense and even served as the school's punter. The kid never left the field and has sustained at least 1 big concussion in his high school career.
Syracuse and Buffalo both took looks at him and passed. Clearly Addazio saw something in him and wants him. That's the cool thing about recruiting - it only takes one coach to see something in you and give you a chance. I wish him the best and am glad he'll get a shot to prove what he can do.

mikcou said:He very well many not project well - I've never seen him play; my only point is that the idea that hes some how too small is a pretty poor reason to pass. Generally, my main point is that the idea that RBs should be 5'11 or 6' seems completely silly to me - there are a lot of advantages to being shorter and thick. A very similar thing happened to Ray Rice out of high school 7-8 years ago. I can certainly understand the high school usage point - a lot of touches early on generally does not bode well for future health.
BigMike said:Rice had offers from Syracuse and Penn St. so he wasn't completely overlooked/ the pSU offer may have gone away at some point
I don't expect much out of Rouse, but maybe BC gets lucky.
Face it, BC is going to need a lot of luck to get out of the mess they have dug themselves (and this class hurts a lot).. They are going to need 8-12 kids in this class to really pan out with maybe 3 of them being huge surprises who develop into all conference (not first team but recognition) types of players.
